Is it true that there are signs of an El Nino?

Well, the sea surface temps are rising in the region of the central Pacific and on average these events happen every 3 years and it's been 3 years since the last one. So it looks like it could be going that way.
However, the forecasts for El Nino and La Nina are typically pretty unreliable, and even if an El Nino does form, it does not mean it will be a strong one and lead to problems with snow in the Midwest. So my best advice is to not let it bother you right now.
