It appears that a tornado hit southeastern Wisconsin today. What is the earliest recorded tornado in Wisconsin? Illinois? Michigan?

I know Wisconsin has had tornadoes in every month besides January, until this year.

According to Fox6 Milwaukee's weathermen, last nights tornados were the earliest ever recorded in Wisconsin. The high temp was also broken yesterday.

Hey Nickdub, the only month never to have a Tornado in Wisconsin is Febuary. There has been a Tornado before in Jan 1844, according to channel 4 news.

KARE 11 out of the Twin Cities reported last night that this was the earliest tornado to hit WI, but there was another January tornado about 40 years ago in WI. I was trying to find the exact date, but 40 years ago was the best I could find.

on channel 12 last night they said back in 1962, and we beat a recors here with a degree of 63 beating the old of 60 and now were suppose to get 2-5" of snow thursday into friday.

Since I made the post I too heard that Wisconsin has had one tornado in January and none in February. I understand the records date back to 1844, but that's not when the tornado was. I heard the other January tornado was in 1967.

I heard the new, official record high for Milwaukee was indeed set yesterday at 63. I heard the old record for this date was 46.

The purpose of my post was to determine just how unusual our weather was yesterday. From what I gleaned from the various sources, yesterday was not just a once in a lifetime occurance. It was something that has only happened once since Wisconsin was declared as a state, spanning many generations. Dare I use the word "epic", the word used to describe the April snowfall in the Keeweenaw?

The last time severe summerlike weather struck southern Wisconsin in winter was in February 1999, when storms produced golf-ball size hail and wind gusts of up to 70 mph. The last time a tornado touched down in Wisconsin was in January 1967; on Jan. 24, a tornado plowed a 25-mile path through Green and Rock Counties, the National Weather Service said.

All I know is we went from a winter wonderland to buttkiss in the span of three days. Very depressing.

Per my local news paper we had a record snow month in December at 29 inches. Most ever. So I guess I shouldn't be too mad.

I also heard that the high was not just the record for the 7th but the record for all of January as far back as the records go.

I am a severe weather guy but it seems everyone has been doing their own research. Those are some interesting facts for sure.

1967 year of the ice bowl in greenbay, i think that was record cold.not lambeau but city stadium.lots of people showed up with wingtop shoes and fedoras!
