Hey John,

So while studying some of the instability ingredients of lake effect...I came across the fact that lake effect downwind of lake Ontario actually INCREASES when upwind lakes(Huron and Erie) are frozen. Do you have any idea as to why this would be!? I thought that since upstream lakes add additional boundary layer heat and moisture, the lake effect on downwind lakes would increase. But in this case...lake Huron and Erie are frozen...and aren't adding additional heat and moisture...but yet, the lake effect on Ontario increases. Any ideas..?
