This is from Biskits Closet
Friday November 20th 2009
Just when I thought things were going to slow down a little, another devastating blow is delivered. But that is okay. We will always come together to help out one of our own. Call them a member of Biskitís Army if you want. I call them my friends and my friends need your help. We as snowmobilerís have always been caring people. We care about the environment, the areas we ride, the people we meet and the volunteers that help make the sport great. We donít care about the antiís or folks that take advantage of our sport, but we never wish harm to them. Steve and Pat Evans from the Strongs General Store lost there house Wednesday afternoon. They are the kind we care about. While it was a beautiful day for all of us, it was a devastating one for them. Pat was working the store at the time. Steve was in the house. When he noticed that a fire had started, he had enough time to grab some personal pictures and a hand full of clothes. Everything else is gone. I have been thanking God for the last two nights that no one was harmed or injured. Personal property can be replaced. True friends cannot. Even the two dogs, Trouble and Rusty survived. Steve and Pat both were very instrumental in helping the area get a local grooming operation. Steve donated many nights, for many years helping keep the trails smooth. Pat donated many nights, for many years working the store while Steve groomed. She also donated many delicious meals that were served at local snowmobiling events and functions. Both was to kind and had to big of a heart to accept money for there time and service toward our sport. All this from folkís who didnít even have a business on the snowmobile trail. Many people except themselves profited off of there countless hours of dedication. Absolutely wonderful people. So with that said, I would like to ask you to either give Steve and Pat a call at 906-274-5558 to see what they need or send them a check or money order to the following address. This address I have provided is the Strongs General Storeís address. Strongs Michigan doesnít have a post office anymore, so all mail is routed through Eckerman MI. If you donít know what to send, then give them a call or drop them a card. The Store is still open seven days a week. They open at 7 a.m.

I heard about that this weekend...I was in there Friday night, didn't even really know what to say, so I didn't say anything about the house...Steve was talkative and nice to me, and I am in there every once in a while, so I know him, but not sure how well he knows me...I feel like I should have said more, but just felt so bad I didn't really know what to say...love going in there, probably the nicest people I have ever met..I will definitely be sending a donation. I hope they can get everything figured out and fixed very soon.

You can get on the Walmart web site and a gift card sent right to their door. I talked with Pat sun. and she said anything would help and she can't believe how many people have helped out already. It's nice to hear about good things being done by the snowmobile community

Latest update from Biskits Closet on Steve and Pat.
A update on Steve and Pat's status.
We'll, I didn't know it tell last night, but did you know, they have laid off 10 Fire Marshals? So, they are still waiting for a fire marshal to show up and look at the burnt house. They cannot go in and touch anything until this is inspected. Thank god it hasn't snowed yet, because they still have a few items in the house that they might be able to save, but they can't touch anything. So as soon as the State does there job, Steve and Pat can start getting on with there lives. They are very grateful for everything that has been done for them. They can't talk about it without crying. If you want to donate anything to them, the best thing one can do is get them a Lowe's gift card. It was mentioned by T-Bone to rebuild Cabin 2, behind the store. This will give them a place to live this winter. They then will rent out Cabin 1 to snowmobilers and that will give them some more revenue to help and rebuild a permanent home. This is a good plan and after talking to Steve last night, the plan is moving forward.
Steve has already purchased, a couple years ago, a shower, toilet and such for this cabin but has never gotten around to putting it in. What he want's to do is, put a little addition on the back of the cabin, this will give Steve and Pat and the two dogs, a little room to stretch out. The cabin is really small. So what we need is some contractors/builders to help out with this project. T-Bone, Renegade, Dr. Doug, Sheriff Woody, BirdDog, Leepster, Insanity, Broke Belt Kevin and all other Generals of Biskit's Army are asked to stand up and help get this project off the ground. Let's communicate by the message board so anyone that want's to help, can chip in. T-Bone, if you can spread the news on Hardcore and SledMI and take care of that end, someone else spread the news on JohnDee and take care of that end, I will take care of the Closet and Facebook. I am off next Wed/Thur/Friday, and will help out all three days. I am donating $500.00 to get this project launched and to help out my friends, so let's go folks. It's time to rock.
