By fatdaddy on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - 10:12 am: Edit Post My truck just turned 100k and when I change the oil (takes 6 quarts) I only drained out 4 and 1/2 quarts. I know these engins burn a little oil but a quart and a half in 5k seems alot. What is your experience with these motors. I was going to keep it for another 50k or so if possible, but maybe nows the time to trade. This truck has been flawless and never had any issues. By russholio on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - 11:58 am: Edit Post Mine uses oil. Not sure how much, but it's been doing it for quite a while (I'm at almost 98k right now). My "check oil level" light comes on always before it's due for an oil change. If it's burning it, I sure don't see or smell it in the exhaust, and it's not leaking it either. At any rate, I've asked a couple shops about it, they looked it up in some GM TSB's and according to them, it is a normal and acceptable condition.
