By toadster920 on Saturday, January 10, 2009 - 11:58 pm: Edit Post I used to deer hunt in the Black River Falls/Millston area. Very nice country in those parts. Did you's by chance stop in Millston? Is Bundy's Bar still there? By dew69 on Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 09:51 am: Edit Post Nice pics fcat. There sure is some beautifull By mc_nytro on Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 10:16 am: Edit Post We must have met you along the same trail on Saturday. I was going to post my pictures, but you have much nicer ones. We did 145 miles Saturday in that area too. Went from Wilton to Sparta through Fort McCoy to Sandy Point to Millston and back through Cataract to Sparta and home. Did ride from Elroy-Sparta bike trail to Leon and back. This trail was real icy and rough. Needs snow and grooming. Not a fun ride there. I thought the trails were in real good shape on the rest of the ride, considering we haven't had a real good dumping of snow since the two ice storms. Hard to beat a ride through Fort McCoy on the Burma Road. You do a nice job with the pictures. Keep them coming! By fcat700 on Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 10:53 am: Edit Post toadster920: We did go through Millston but that was only 30 miles into the ride so we just waved as we went by. There are a couple bars but I'm not sure of the names. By mc_nytro on Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 01:05 pm: Edit Post I ride an black and yellow Yamaha. Was riding with a red Apex and a blue Polaris yesterday. We were in the Millston area about 11:30 AM. We stopped and had a sandwich at 400 Club, then headed back towards Cataract area and south. I thought maybe we met you on the trail, from the pictures of your sleds, but maybe not. Did meet a few more sleds in that area. By speedracer8888 on Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 07:05 pm: Edit Post Looks like a blast. Glad you guys finally have some good rideable snow down there. It is always way more fun to ride out of home. By beancounter1 on Monday, January 12, 2009 - 09:02 am: Edit Post Fcat700, My wife and I are heading this way on Sat, 1-17. I was wondering if you have been on the bike trail from County B to Sparta by chance? I want to hit the same trails as you did, but didn't want to trailer too far from my house. Any advice would be great. Sweet pics by the way. By fcat700 on Monday, January 12, 2009 - 12:54 pm: Edit Post The last time that I was on the bike trail was before the last ice. At that time it was pretty good. Looks like we are going to get some needed snow today so I would not hesitate to ride it however assume it will be a little rough (and cold on Friday) I'm sure it will need some grooming. The loop we made was 90 miles, you can add another 50 it if you drop at B. I live in Onalaska and I trailered to Sparta just because the bike trail gets kind of boring after you ride it a few times. Snow conditions, as you can see from the pictures should be real good. By mc_nytro on Monday, January 12, 2009 - 10:20 pm: Edit Post I rode the trail from Cataract to Sparta crossing Cty B on Saturday. Most of the trails was pretty good shape up there, although the hills and some corners were icy. We did receive 3-4 inches of new snow today and the groomers are running tonight all over the county. I do not know if that will get hit tonight or tomorrow, but it will get hit soon. All the trails in Monroe County will be open as of Wednesday morning. I am planning riding that same area again Saturday, with a loop going over to Wyeville and down to Tomah and Clifton too. Should be about 150- 180 miles total. Conditions were good, should be better now with 5 more inches on the ground. By beancounter1 on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 03:50 pm: Edit Post Hey fcat700, where is a good place to unload in Sparta? By ridesafe on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 04:12 pm: Edit Post sweet pics fcat700.. I really need to get over that way and ride those trails. thanks for posting the pics. By fcat700 on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 09:30 pm: Edit Post Oh, I was going to post the 90 mile route we took, all trails were well groomed. From Sparta, corridor 27 north through Fort McCoy to trail 8 east to Millston. Downtown Millston take a right to get under hwy 94 then north on Jackson county trail 94 (very nice trail) to corridor 26 left (west) into Black River Falls and back to corridor 27 south. By beancounter1 on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 - 09:03 am: Edit Post Thanks fcat. We will give it a try. I was on 94 2 weeks ago and it was gorgeous. Thanks for the info. By fcat700 on Saturday, January 17, 2009 - 04:05 pm: Edit Post beancounter1: How was the ride? We are going out Sunday, hope the trails hold up. By race218 on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 08:22 pm: Edit Post Can anyone give us some updated trail info for this area. Planning on heading up this weekend. By fcat700 on Thursday, January 29, 2009 - 09:40 pm: Edit Post race218: Not positive about the conditions, I haven't ridden the area since the 18th. It has been cold but the sun has been out as well and no new snow. I know they are out grooming this week and the trails should be ride able but it's suppose to get pretty warm. I would think you would be ok this weekend but we do need some snow. |
