Gas prices continue down in our area (see GAS BY ZIP) $3.19 / gallon in Wyoming MN 55013
Maybe the failing "bail-out" has something to do with it.

Hey Terry,
3.38 this morning in White Bear. That would be a pretty big drop in one day.
It's funny how the media has forgotten about how we are still being screwed even though the prices are still going down.

Terry - thanks again for the email.
What else is funny is how brainwashed they have us. We see gas at $3.74 (by me) and we think it's such a great price just because it's under $4.00.

the lowest I've seen today in the NW burbs of Chicago is 3.82. Wish I could see 3.38. At the rate it drops around here, if things go the they have it still would take a year to get that low

I'm down Portens Rd. Yea I would like to ride with you guys but unfortunately I gave up riding in IL and sold all my "extra" sleds that I used in IL to pick up my '09 (sold 3 and it just covered half of the new one). The only sled I have left here is the old asphalt sled in the shed but I do not think the Island Lake police would like that (this sled no longer has a title as it was scrapped, which is why I used it for asphalt). Now all my sleds are kept at our property in Land O Lakes, but if you guys ride up there I would ride with ya up there. Or maybe I can bring my 1 extra down someday and re-register it for IL riding.

Hey guys,I'm also in the area, Johnsburg -Fox Lake. Gas was 3.78 in Foxlake.I've been involved with Richmond Trailblazers for along time.I'm our V.P.If we get snow down here are trails are usually quite good, and we connect to Walworth,County Wis. Mchenry county has three drags and has one tucker and rents to big tractors to groom. When lakes are froze the chain can be a good time.Snake, I'm also a pressman, down in wheeling.Racer, Lando is a great area, our club trip was there last year and we're going back again this year.I've been going up to the U.P. every year since 83.Small world for sure.

If I do ride, I might go to my brother-in-laws area which is Genoa City. Seems every time time I ride locally something happens i.e 4' wide ditch, culvert, boulder etc.

snake...that is too bad they closed, the one brother was a pretty good cook. We were able to get up there and meet them before they reopened the place and went up for dinner a few times before the snow flied and their pasta night was awesome, we always opted for a little of each. Over time talking to them we were worried if they could make it since it really isn't "populated" up in that area and I think the distances to other services kind of made things harder for them.

Enjoy the cheaper gas while you can, looks like our OPEC friends aren't happy with the price of oil falling. Even the the economy is heading for the crapper our friends in the Middle East are showing their greed.
From the Financial Times
"Opec members seek emergency meeting
By Carola Hoyos in London
Published: October 8 2008 17:48 | Last updated: October 8 2008 17:48
Almost half the members of the Opec oil cartel are considering an emergency meeting in Vienna next month as oil prices dropped to their lowest level in nearly a year.
Almost half the members of cartel have in the past few days called on the group to act to halt the slide before their next official meeting scheduled to take place in Algeria in late December.
Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Iraq, Venezuela and Ecuador, whose economies tend to be most dependent on high oil prices and whose ministers are among the most hawkish of the 13-member group, have all lobbied for the cartel to drop output.
Their calls came as oil consuming nations moved to bolster their economies in a co-ordinated interest rate cut.
Oil prices on Wednesday resumed their slide towards $85 a barrel, a level last reached in December last year.
Nymex November West Texas Intermediate fell $3.06 to $87 a barrel, while ICE November Brent slid $2.96 to $81.
Opec’s next meeting was scheduled for December 18 in Algeria, but ministers are now saying they could meet on November 18 in Vienna, site of the group’s headquarters.
Opec controls nearly 40 per cent of the world’s oil supply, <font size="+2">and at its meeting last month pledged to reduce its production by about 500,000 barrels a day in an attempt to boost prices.</font> So far the group’s reduction has fallen far from that mark, but slowing production often takes more than a few weeks.
The world consumes about 87m barrels a day of oil a day."
skylar
10-08-2008, 08:05 PM
I don't think it will happen, this economic crisis is world wide now. I think OPEC will realise this, three months ago if they would have said they were dropping production, oil would have shot up immediately. The recently announced drop in production did nothing to the price of oil, it continued to drop.
That is what I am hoping for anyways, I need gas to be at $2.50 a gallon again.

They are being VERY GREEDY and have had a taste of money and now they can't pull the claws out.
This is gonna get real interesting to see where the Saudis stand on it.

Yesterday when I was coming home from work it was $2.99. This morning it was $3.01 at the same place. OPEC Meeting:
Given the foregoing, the Conference will continue to provide to the market crude oil volumes required by consumers. Accordingly, the Conference has decided to decrease the current OPEC-11 production ceiling of 28.808 million barrels a day by 1.5 mb/d, effective 1 November 2008, with Member Countries strongly emphasizing their firm commitment to ensuring that the volumes they supply to the market are reduced by the individually agreed amounts, as shown below.
This comes from the OPEC website. I figure the reduction in production is the reason for the 2 cent increase. Hopefully it doesn't continue...

My financial planner told me that if we could afford it to up our percentage of putting into our plans because when the market turns around it will be just the opposite and we have the potential of making up what we lost and then some. Now, I don't know enough about all of this, but what if the market just totally tanks??? Then what?? There won't be any money in there to make money off of???

booondocker, ExxonMobil has their margins either way. The reason gas is now close to half where it was a few months ago is because the price of crude is now half (or less) than where it was. That money went to the sheiks, not ExxonMobil.

Ok, 98panther. I'm not even going to try to argue this one with you. We will see if you are correct in January when ExxonMobil releases their 2008 QTR4 reports. Since gas prices are now half of where they were over the summer, then if your theory is correct then their profits should be in half too, right?
Are you trying to tell me the cost of the raw material has no effect on the price of the final product? Now that sounds like total BALOGNA. (Correct spelling)

Funny? There is nothing funny here. Everybody has been pointing out that there is $700 billion in funds being transferred overseas to OPEC every year, and yes that includes sheiks. $700 billion! ExxonMobil profits 2% of that amount last quarter, and somehow they are the crooks?
And now that prices have dropped, OPEC is scrambling with these emergency meetings to cut production and get prices back up. This is not made up by me, and I didn't read it in the cartoon section. Both of those points are facts.

Nope, I just drive with my foot on the brake and gas at the same time to be sure I burn twice as much!
I think it's time you buy one of those air powered cars and then this whole gas situation won't be an issue anymore.
Whatever the gas price is, I have no choice but to pay it. You are completely out of your mind to think I or anybody enjoyed paying $4 a gallon. My truck now costs about $75 to fill up instead of $120-$130. You think I don't enjoy having an extra 55 bucks in my account to spend on other things?

I found the story from a lefty news source called CNN for you that outlines Exxonmobil's profits:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/10/30/news/companies/exxon_earnings/index.htm?cnn=yes
Regarding the $700 billion per year going overseas, don't tell me you haven't heard that before. That number has been publicized for pretty much this entire year. And that's just the oil coming from overseas. Of course domestic production isn't included in that number, so when you add that in, ExxonMobil's profit margins are even less than 2% for the quarter (8% for the year).
Here's another CNN interview with Lou Dobbs that indicates that $700 billion, just for the record:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/21/pickens.interview/index.html?iref=newssearch
So there's your factual numbers. Now tell me I am wrong, because I am sure you will...
Oh, keep in mind that ExxonMobil makes money from many more products than gasoline. Lubricants, plastics, etc. So that means that their profits from gasoline are probably even less yet.
