My guess based on when colors generally peak in the western UP is that the third week may be a bit late but I have no experience in that exact area.

I would say too late for good leaf color.

Good for Muskie fishing, no bugs, no tourists, able to talk to you local bartenders, and the list goes on and on. You may miss the leaves but it's still great up there.

Peak the 1st or 2nd weekend, lots of things play on that. It was a very dry summer and the maples are stressed and pretty much all starting to go or fell already. Lots of temps in the upper 30's low 40's and it seems like once there is a good hard frost that will jump start the trees also. Once they change a good storm can take them down in a day.

Thanks everyone for the input. Found this site... http://www.travelwisconsin.com/fallcolor_report.aspx
Might be a nice change to visit the area free of some things that stress the locals.
Not sure how they do it sometimes, but really do appriciate it when I am up there.

Just got back from St. Germain on Tuesday. A little show but not much. It will be gorgeous in another couple of weeks. You will probably still have some color but most will probably on the ground. I will try to post a couple of pics i took.
