i think the colors will be pretty good for viewing this weekend in the keweenaw though some leaves did fall off from the winds on monday colors are probably at 40-50 percent changed as of now. so this weekend could potentially be very good for viewing. though who knows how much leaves fell off from wind

Yesterday must have been a brilliantly clear day in the UP. The sat photo only has a couple spots of clouds. You can really see the color change in a few areas, especially just west of Lake Gogebic. Might be helpful if someone is going color hunting this weekend.

Beautimus satellite image!
Of course the most colorful spot is in fact the Empire/Tilden mines(!) (near Palmer, south of Negaunee, MI), in the Huron Mountains north of Lake Michigamme, and south/west of Lake Gogebic.

I see (in the Midwest Foliage Report (http://www.foliagenetwork.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=36:m idwest-us&Itemid=53&layout=default) for September 30, 2009) that the entire UP and NW WI are now reporting moderate color.

Nice site!
But clicking on either the Hurley or Ironwood, Marenisco, Bessemer, Bergland and Lake Gogebic links yields:<blockquote><hr size=0><!-quote-!><font size=1>quote:</font>

<font size="+2">Not Found</font>

The requested URL /wup.htm was not found on this server.<!-/quote-!><hr size=0></blockquote>Perhaps that&#39;s just a strange way of saying that there aren&#39;t any pictures for those areas yet?

the colors in the keweenaw are around 45-60 percent changed or so. peak is pry still about 7-10 days away, so the weekend of 9th 10th 11th should be the best weekend for colors. 16 17th 18 might be good to. but most likely lots of the leaves will be off the trees
