Kyle,

You can pretty much say that those areas down wind of Lake Superior will have snow that time of year. Your biggest problem will be lodging, as lots of places, probably most of them, will be full months and months in advance.

Given that you want to ride off-trail and between xMas and New Years, you need to be in the Keweenaw Peninsula. I would check out the AmericInn in Calumet.

www.hillsporthillton.com (http://www.hillsporthillton.com) for snow. It's not as far as it looks. Off trail riding, This is a Boondocker Paridise. Great people running the place. Sauna, Great food and lots of beer. They even have flannel sheets on the beds. Gary and Maggie are a ton of fun. Gary loves to cook and tells stories. This is where I decided that "Off trail" was more fun than blasting down well groomed trails for hrs. on end.
