Basically you will take trail 3 north out of Land O Lakes up to trail 2 in Watersmeet and head west on tail 2 to Hurley or Saxon to get to Montreal I believe you pick up trail 77 in Hurley and head south on 77. As far as places to stay try Eagle bluff condo's or Haven north condo's both are in Hurley and are nice and reasonable. I think they can be found in the Northwoods Directory to the left on this page.

Those are easy & not a lot of miles & won't take long. Are you going off trail on the way to play to use up time or just looking to ride for 4 hours or so & turn in to motel? Maybe just putting along with breaks & seeing sites?

actually was planning on 200-250 miles a day... never have gone into that area..... have never been west of Wakefield... always ended up on 11N and headed to Silver City/LOC and back to Lando.

Venturenorth: Did you mean RT 200-225 miles Lando to Saxon or to Saxon thru UP then back to Bergland from Lando? If one way your UP trail miles seem way off. Lot of RRB to ride too. Maybe you are riding thru WI to Saxon which would be much slower & more miles. I was thinking same route as xcr800 but when baging it routes don't matter just riding till time to stop. I don't ride much west of Bergland too much traffic.

Thanks WD, yeah, was not sure about the miles, and if traffic is bad west of Wakefield, then I better rethink....I am homebased out of Lando and just looking for a good 2 day bag trip,
on-trail, I've already been all Western UP, Gogebic and Houghton, CH, L'anse and Big Bay..... maybe I should try east side towards
St Ignace,Marquette??
Anyone?

Might want to try riding 6 east out of Lando & keep going east on 6 until IM then cut north to UPMI maybe Iron Mountainish /Norway. Plenty of hotels in IM. Very light traffic on 6 after Phelps but make sure you top off there.....no traffic no gas either but very pretty. Once in UPMI you can ride north central loops then wail back some 100 + miles on Trail 2 to Watersmeet then 3 to Lando. Should be lots of miles with good mix in 2 days.

Thanks,
did Crystal Falls/Republic to Big Bay last year, was a great ride up to Big Bay, then next day back down L'Anse/Sidnaw/Lando....that route 8/15/109 was awesome scenery....hopefully will try the east central loop this year ....up to Munising. thanks again

Yep 8/15/109/ north loop & 8/107/2/3 south loop both my faverite loops & not well traveled. See a lot of baggers on 15S out of Iron River riding Yams alone like me. 15s has a lot of varation wide FR roads & very tight twistys & no traffic....just a great trail for 50 + miles but not for the meek no amenities or cross roads. You ARE alone & have to trust your sled.

maybe we should buddy up...I am a yammer too and ride alone.... where are you based out of?
I try and come up at least once a month from Chi, and usually do my bag trips in Jan or Feb...

Sure. I live on Spectacle Lake southeast of the town of Phelps. Lots of places we can meet in Lando or Phelps. Good to ride with another Yam with same or better range. My buddy with XP MXZX800r gets horrible gas milage & oil useage & I have to plan route & stops for him. His day off usually is Wed but I can ride any time. Weekday riding is always better. My solid, don't worry, range is 120 miles tried 135 & ran out of gas half mile from gas station in Phelps so Sidnaw gas up good insurance for me for long less traveled loops on trail & unplowed Fire Roads.

Actually, I would be coming thru Phelps from ER on 17....I usually fill up around 100, never have pushed it beyond that, but I'm sure 125 is no prob.
Have a 01 Venture, just a cruiser but comfy for the long rides and room for my bag..the wife
not interested anymore, so I ususally ride solo.
how can we meet up?

My email is listed in my profile. You can send PM to me to work out details. I ride an 07 Attack & ditch bang to Trail 17.... really more unplowed fire roads than ditches but intersect Trail 17 from ER too.
