I wanted to start this thread to let you all know how the these trails are. Since I will be grooming them nightly I should have accurate info. So far I will post weekly or until significant snow fall.

December 1st: No snow, grooming has not started. Pray for snow.

Hey Randy,

What's the latest with gas in White Pine or Silver City this year?

Konteka in White Pine has a 3000 gallon tank with regular octane and two pumps. There is also a convienience store in the Konteka where you pay for gas. Has oils, spark plugs and everything else you need. No gas in Silver City.

Dec.4 = 4-6 inches in White Pine less at the lake shore. Grooming has not started. We need another foot, Pray for snow.

Ahhh, my first post, with a good suggestion... all groomers should have a donation box on them - giving us all a second reason to keep a good supply of singles : )

That is a great suggestion.

We can not say enough thanks for all the work we see being done. We also know that there is a lot more work that we do not see. Thank You.

Ranlam, do you hang out at the Konteka? We stop in there at least once a week when we are up there.

I wondered if someone would get the Hurley reference. Not me, would rather keep my money.

Update: Just groomed from Ontonagon to White Pine on trail 12 and 101 it's all knee deep, reports from sledders on the South Boundry road is almost waist deep by Summit Peak. All be packing down the trail on South Boundry tomorrow as well as White Pine to Silver City and Lake of the Clouds. Silver City actually has knee deep snow right now also. With another major snow forcast for tonight and Thursday. Its all light fluffy powdery snow and tons of it. When I pack it down it cuts in about a foot. Wet spots in many places. It rained so damn much last month it did not have a chance to dry up so lets hope for cold temps. Trails are open. The radio said some crap about trails not being open until 14 but that was a mistake DNR never said no such thing. Trails are open.

We were on them. South Boundry would have sucked if you wanted pure, flat groomed trails. Luckily, we lived with bright smiles and no grooming yet on Wednesday.

Trail 102 with South Boundry on Tuesday. Then the Summit Peak lower parking lot. The upper lot was even better. We went back the next day and the new snowfall had covered our tracks!!!!!!!!! New powder on the trail, again!!!! It did look like another foot+
had fallen since the last night. Check with the forecasters, I think they will give it more.

Thank You for not touching the SBT with a groomer. Just kidding. It was pretty much heaven to ride a double wide road with that much snow and no tracks.

Summit Peak is definatly for Powder Heads. Get off the trail and your in 4 feet of snow. I will groom Summit Peak by Sunday night or Monday. Hope I can make it to the top in the groomer. I could only get one groom on South Boundry cause Ontonagon's groomer is still in the shop so I got to share with them. White Pine to Lake of the Clouds is in good shape.

They been getting any fresh stuff over the weekend?

ranlam
12-20-2009, 05:35 PM
Snow has packed down considerably. Silver City is getting thin. White Pine is good. South Boundry Road (trail 11) is great. Lake of the clouds is still very good. Been having some tractor hydraulic issues I havent been able to get out every night yet. We will work things out and get on a nightly schedule soon. Pray for snow.

What are conditions like now? Heard good and bad.

ranlam
12-27-2009, 11:51 AM
When I left yesterday, conditions were getting thin. The roads South Boundry (trail 11) and M107 going up to Lake of the Clouds are good with up to 16-18 inches of base. Trail 1 between ski-hill and Silver City is very thin with bare spots and rough by mid afternoon. Trail 1 between Silver City and White Pine is better towards White Pine with up to a foot base on the trail in the good spots. We really need another foot to freshin things up. Pray for Snow!
