The best I've had in 16 years UP there is the walleye breakfast at Fish Tales, formerly The Fisherman, on Lake Gogebic. Awesome!

Peggy Sues in Ishpeming on 41. No access via snowmobile but i'd trudge through 3 feet of fresh snow uphill both ways for a mile to eat when the big guy is on the grill.

Oh you gotta try them with mustard. Good stuff. I guess it is a family thing. We have eaten fried potatoes with mustard on them for ever.

Where is it located? Can one get close via snowmobile?
About 4 blocks east of the bridge, at 54 Huron Street, one block south of Shelden Ave, one block north of Lakeshore Drive.

Where is it located? Can one get close via snowmobile?Very close, via snowmobile along Lakeshore Drive (the old Houghton-Chassell trail).

I dont remeber the name of the place in Copper harbor. Small Cafe right at the base of Brockway. Biggest sausage links, almost like bratwurst, I have had in a long time. We were the only ones in there at the time. The place was a godsend after staying up way too late in Lac la belle the night before!

I second Char's Place in Bruce Crossing! greatest people in the U.P. with excellent breakfast! They treated us a few times to after bar food as well and I will say their Shrimp and Birgers are pretty good too!

You got to be joking, its the worst food on the lake. But they pour a good old fashion. your stool definetly won't be solid.

Hmmm, now is that a reference to the furniture, or the effects of eating the food? {smile}

But the Adventure Motel in Mass City does NOT support the trail system with any donations! Go somewhere that supports the trails. Pats Yamaha will lead you in the right direction.

I would say it's a toss up agree with mspease either the Walleye breakfast at Fishermans' - Fish Tails or Antonio's in Bergland the blueberry shortstack, bacon well done and egg over easy it's got a name I just can't remember it. The blueberry pancakes are out of this world.
Yum.

Another vote for Squeaks.
The "young" lady that cooks for breakfast (I can't remember her name but her husband is "Pancho") will make you any breakfast any way you want. I've eaten there dozens of times and have never seen a menu. I just ask for food and it appears. My friend always has biscuits and gravy with an egg over easy over the top and a side of bacon. I switch it up a little bit but have yet to find something they can't make.

Does Char's in Bruce Crossing serve lunch as well?

From Hunts' Guide to Michigan's UPPER PENINSULA, BRUCE CROSSING (http://hunts-upguide.com/bruce_crossing_detail.html) (and for those who were familiar with the old Gramma Grooters):

BRUCE CROSSING RESTAURANTS, LODGINGS & CAMPGROUNDS

CHAR'S CAFE (formerly Bundy's)

This diner serves the area's best food. New owner Char Gustafson had spent 18 years as a waitress at Gramma Grooter's, the very popular Bruce Crossing restaurant that burned in 2003. All the cooks are from GG's; so are the favorites like Granny's omelette, the sausage skillet, and eggs Benedict. All potatoes and soups are still made from scratch, the burgers ($3.89 with chips) are extra good, and most of the breakfasts are served all day. The $12 New York strip is a dinner standout; fried seafood platters are a popular dinner item, as are hot beef sandwiches for lunch. Huge bowls of chili ($3.49), always on the menu, are winter hits. Big portions. Some vegetarian dishes. Expect a little smoke sometimes. On snowmobile trail. (—July, 2008)

Who eats breakfast? Wait until 1 or 2 pm and grab a burger at anyplace you happen across. The best riding is right at dawn, and all the drunks ain't out there until 3 o'clock!!

Maybe things have changed recently. The times I've been there, it was pretty good. GL, Root Cellar, or Antonios are where we usually grab b-fast on Lake G.

Nice thing about the buffet, is you can make quick work of things & get on the sled.

Country Flaire is awesome in St Germain. So is Djs Northwoods restaraunt. We had a great breakfast there. They also have humongous cinnamin rolls. The toast is homeade bread and is really good.

The Gateway Lodge in Land O' Lakes has the most amazing Sunday Brunch. Worth the second set of stickers! And it's a very cool place to stay for the ambience and history. Nothing against the UP of course. And if you're lucky enough to be at the Hoop when Carolyn's making homemade donuts ... HOLY CRAP!!!
