I contacted Tog to get rates for loding, rentals, guide etc. for a family trip over Christmas and got treated very poorly.

Where else would be good place to plan winter trip for family next year?

I have to agree. I've emailed them with no response AT ALL. Maybe they don't want my $$$$. If you find some others let me know too.

Especially for a family, call the Turpin Meadow Lodge. 8 miles by trail from Togwotee. Arctic Cat rentals. Guides, maybe not as experienced as Togwotee.

Sounds good. I'd like to start the calls or emails off in the future by asking them if they accept cash for payment. Maybe those places have so much business that they don't care about customers. I'd sure like to stay at Tog lodge but if they can't return an email or mail the stuff out they said they would, I wonder how the actual service at the lodge is? I know places around here take each and every $$ seriously.. Word of mouth can be your best friend or worst enemy. I'm gonna check out a few more places since I've got NO response at all. A month is long enough to wait.

Call and ask for Dennis, he runs the place.

It's a great setup. The only thing it doesn't have is a bar (I think it's owned and operated by Mormons), but they have a big open area in the main lodge with a big screen tv and they don't care if you have your own drinks. To me, that's better anyway. To each his own.

If everything works out right, we may going back out here next year (I'd love to, but I'm not sure I can swing it without selling my trail sled). Based on some of the discussions on here re: Togwotee, I'm not sure if the guides at turpin are as experienced as those at Togwotee. Each day, they brought us to incredible places to play with fresh powder, but I think only one of the guides was someone who lived and breathed the area as much as those at Togwotee seem to. I've never stayed at Togwotee, that's just based on what you read on here.

We had such a great time I would have a hard time going anywhere else. But that's the only place in the West I've gone to so I don't have anything to compare it to. Our original plans were to go to Togwotee, but they were booked when we went.

LarryD & M8man, did you call the lodge directly or the "1-800" number?

I too started out VERY early last year planning our trip for this past March, and it worked against me. Corporate (aramark) dictates the rates to the lodge for the coming year from what I gather. Last year I had to wait till like September or October to finally get a rate from the lodge. Also, keep in mind the snow conditions will work for or against you as well. For instance this year was a "low snow year" and they where giving away package deals 25% off starting back in Jan. 2010. I got my group this rate when I asked for it in Feb. Be patient (I know it's hard! It's western riding!) but the lodge is not the hold up here. I have a direct number I can give you. I just have to dig it up... But like I said they won't be able to do much for you until corporate sends them the $ numbers for the 2010/2011 season.

800 number, which means we'll have to wait a few months

The direct number to the lodge > (307) 543-2847. You may need to talk to the front desk manager. Here's info from my thread (http://www.johndee.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=8639) last year on this same subject. A very lengthy read if you’re bored. ;) If Jack can help you guys out, then cool!

I have been going to Tog since Carter was a new resident to the state of WY and its interesting to listen to how people perceive the lodge and all it has to offer. In the early days you only had to wonder if there would be water for a shower. Now days it is how many semi loads of sledders they can pack into the lodge and cabins. Customer service has always been an issue. In the early days you had to worry that your reservation card wasn't misplaced (yes a cardboard file card with your info was in a tray at the front desk). Now they have a zillion dollar computer system that is probably linked through NASA and they still loose your information. Take the good with the bad and enjoy it as best as you can. I had a conversation with someone at the lodge today. While this person's ambitions were admirable, I fell back to a statement "I'll believe it when I see it". The conversation started from rate increases. It turned into talking about the lodge and all of the amenities that had changed from the past. While something's had changed for the good, alot had changed for the worse. Who's side is worse? I guess it depends on what side of the check book you are on. I have seen at least five owners go through Togwotee and while I am no resort expert, or financial marketing wizard I think they are not listening to the customer. We all know how much we spend on this sport. I don't think anyone on this post will disagree that we wouldn't complain about an increase in costs if you were shown improvement to your vacation. Heck, we take vacation time to drive 1000's of miles to get cold and wet with 5-12k toys that we can only use 4 months out of the year. While I know they advertise on this site I really wonder if anyone reads what we talk about. If they did, I think they might go back and look at the lodge past and find out when the guests really enjoyed the stay!!!! I am going back this year with my group and I'm sure we'll have fun and enjoy ourselves. I hope the lodge will deliver what it promises!!!

I totally bypass Aramark and call the front desk direct. never a problem. Checking out if with a group, plan on a ton of pages of paper with detailed everything that don't usually add up correctly. Take all this stuff into the restaurant, sit down have a cup of coffee and go through it all. I always save huge this way when I circle stuff and ask tons of questions on what it is, I have always paid less than quoted there. Ask for group discounts, Join Sledheads for there discount there, AAA, AARP, etc. I thought they were going to pay me one time for staying with them. Key is to skip the Aramark phone gal in Arizona or you pay full rate. I travel with Momsmotorsports out most the time and they are fantastic on getting the best rates. Ben did a great job and the new guy I am sure will too.

This is exactly what I am talking about. When you pay roughly $140/night/person you should not have to do anything but enjoy your vacation. I usaully go about my business and enjoy myself but I'm always watching and listening. Last year I heard someone say how disappointed they were in the menu and that it is poor when one of the dinners you most looked forward to is a ceasar house salad. Doesn't say much for the big guys does it?

On top of our usual trip to Togwotee, a group of us tried out Centennial WY in the Snowies (mid Jan and then back at the end of April). The town looked like it was out of High Plains Drifter. The Motel had just been reopened by new management The main lodge up in the mountain had been closed because of???? I have never seen a group of people go to such an effort to make our stay the best it could be. They (the town) had 1% of the means a large corporation has. There were less people in the entire town than most resorts have for employees, and the guide/rental service up in the mountains had no resort to work from. The motel did not have the kitchen open in Jan but they did there best to try to get us a good breakfast before we went out for the day. The local restaraunts picked up the slack and served fantastic meals. We were just taken back by everyones effort to make sure we had a good time without having thier handing stuck out. We actually tipped better to everyone than we did to the "built in gratuity package". It was great and we'll be back twice this year to show our support for the area and the businesses.

Two very note worthy points.
1.Check out savings for booking with MomsMotorSports, or when we are there.
2.Call the front desk.

Togwotee is actually trying....
I have been in contact with the new marketing and sales manager. Changes are on the way, and they are receptive to feedback. The web page, which I will agree is very corporate feeling and hard to get rate information, now has a questionnaire to help them pin point some of the issues we are experiencing from this side. I would not be supprised to find them trying to get more information from guest.

Also, Togwotee is offering custom packages. I am not sure if they are available to everyone or just those that book with us. A new way of saving on the all inclusive package rate without losing the services you like. These custom packages come with or with out the guide, with or with out breakfast and dinner, with or with out happy hour OR they can each be added as you want. The items you select are pooled together for saving over the regular prices. They are also offering 35% off from sled rentals for members that book through Moms.

Looking for groups and individuals to go to TML January 5th-9th and March-Hill Climb Week.

Another great point....
small towns offer a nice fit for some. I love TenMile, WY in the Snowys and Cooke City, at Bearclaw Bobs. These place do truly make you fell 'at home' and will often go out of there way to help you. Moms Motor Sports is offers $75 lodging and food packages at those locations too.
In Cooke City Bob has a heated garage and tools for rent among other amenities to make your stay memorable and affordable. At TenMile Inn Ken and Kimberly make you feel right at home in their lodge.

In 08 we went out and stayed at heart 6 guest ranch. Nice place and very helpful. Rates were alot cheaper than tog or turpin. The only drawback is you have to drive a couple miles to get on the trails.

Hey check out Beaver Creek Lodge in Logan Canyon, Utah. The service is the best. The guides are really down to earth people and easy to get along with. They are quick at getting back to you. Check out their website: beavercreeklodge.com. They have some December specials on their hot deals page.

If you want any information on the place let me know. They really know what they are doing there!!

I apologize for posting so many. I guess I just will not post anymore here. I guess you all know everything about snowmobiling and not willing to hear any ideas on where to ride. I guess that's ok I will keep the area to myself and not share a hidden secret out there. I don't think I could ride with some of the people that have attitudes like some on here.

You are wrong about posting good adventures. Unless you are getting a share of the profit, It's not an advertisement. Keep them coming because that is what is great about this site. I am for word of mouth reports over advertising any day and so should the resorts. It's FREE and usually more Truthful!!! My gripe is the Huge advertisements with high levels of expectations followed by Low return on promises. I can think of alot of businesses in northern MN, WI, and MI that made a good profit by taking good care of customers without any advertising. In the summer I stop by a favorite sled spot and make a few purchases just to keep there business up.

Well, the attitude is not here. You came in out of nowhere and starting posting all posts for a business in your area. You do list Logan Utah as your location. Seema like you would drive home and not stay anywhere if you live in the prime spot. Great to tell all about your find, but that is all you done in your few posts. John has rules, yes I skirt them with a few others. I do ask John on some things that I promote if it is okay. After all this site is Johns creation and part of his livelihood. Best to buy ad space if you want us to go there. Thats how it works. Tog. does along with many others. The products we talk about can be purchased from advertisers on this site such as Sled solutions, klim, Amsoil, and all the rest. This discussion board has a lot to offer and a lot of great people on it. I welcome you to take another look at it. Wayne :)

Stagecoach motel in Dubois is good, also lots of motels in Jackson available...Not high priced at this time of year, then 50 miles to Tog.. All the remodeling hasn't been completed yet and they are trying... New beds, TV's couches, all in the cabins, be patient...
