Anybody trail ride with Simmons? How are they, do you like'em?
I want more flotation for my Nytro xtx when off trail but they also have to work on the trail. Figure I'll try these or Yamaha mountain skis.

I test rode the new Simmons skis on Shad Simmons' propane powered Nytro turbo (about 350 horse) last winter in West Yellowstone. The skis didn't touch the ground much - gee I don't know why ;). But when they were on the ground the cornering was great - they had a very possitive feel and turned very well. I'll be buying a set this winter for my M8. I also tested them on Shad's friends 800 Summit for a more "real world" test. These skis are a huge impovement over the stock factory skis and a great upgrade.

These skis interest me, but I have heard simmons skis are very nervous on ice. Is that true? That's the only thing that would steer me away from these skis.

I just pre-ordered a pair of these new Gen 3 skis yesterday. Here's another link to a thread on the SnoWest web site talking about them: http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=212319

I think that they should have a lot of potential as a nice trail ski and a great off trail ski too with the 8" width. From the dealer that I ordered them from I was told that they should be available in late October. Didn't have any firm prices yet, but was told that they should be right around the same price as the current Gen 2 skis.

Boomer, we'll have to meet up again this year with you and Chuck at the white house. Maybe you'll let me try out your new ski set-up! I have a new shock set-up for you to take a spin on. :)

I have the Gen 1 ski's on my mtn Max and ride 90% off trail and I tell you what, these ski's perform incredible. We all know stock Yamaha ski's are a bite. Gen 1 skies are wider than a stock trail ski and I thought they were great for flotation off trail but than again the cat power claw has a way of pushing the sled thus lifting the front. I get excellent weight transfer with the track alone. When on the trail darting was virtually gone, the sled drove nice and straight. I really never thought ski's could make such a huge difference.

I checked the website and I can get them in Marquette or over in Ironwood area. Does anyone up in the Keweenaw carry them?? I can call around but any info would be great, if anyone has some. I'm seriously looking at getting the Gen 3's for this season.

Snow will be soooooon.

Michelle is awesome, from the Snowest link above you can get a lot of info on these new Gen 3 skis's. Her shop has been testing these since last spring, and she even had a couple sets out there for people to demo. When it comes to getting Simmons products definitly look her up.

It sounds like Michelle has built up quite a customer base from us flatlanders.
Her shop is where I ordered mine from. Great prices, service, and she's a hoot to chat with.

M8Man dad has the gen 1s on his switchy and the difference they made is outstanding. I would say all that you should put on the m8 is gen 1s because you do alot of riding around home and not out west.
