My belt rides to high and loads up when starting the sled and it wants to creep when idling. Old belt is wore and narrower than the new belt (yes, same OEM belt). How do I reshim the clutch?

adjust the belt deflection.

I don't think that will do it, the belt rides to high on the secondary

that's what adjusting belt deflection is for. It makes the belt ride higher or lower on the secondary.

With the sled on a stand, at idle the track should just creep a little, belt should be about an 1/8 above the secondary!

Okay...so how do I adjust the deflection?

There is a great article in this month's SnowGoer mag on how to adjust belt deflection.

I don't know if the 03 is the same as an 05 but on the 05 you pull the secondary bolt. On the backside of the bolt you will see washers. Take out washers to sink belt further into the secondary and add washers to bring belt up on secondary. Pretty simple.

dug out my snow goer and scanned the pic of it. if you can't read it, here's the directions:

#1. Use a 9/16" wrench or socket to remove the bolt that holds the secondary clutch on the jackshaft or ACT Drive output shaft.
#2. Remove the hub along with the bolt. You will see an O-ring on the inner hub.
#3. Remove the O-ring that is the retainer for the shims that are added or removed to make belt deflection adjustments. The shims are available in .030-, .060-, and .090- inch thickness.
#4. Adding shims will push the inner sheave toward the centerline of the sled, which increases belt deflection by loosening the belt. Remove shims to allow the inside sheave to move closer to the outer sheave, which decreases deflection by tightening the belt.
#5. Reinstall the bolt and hub. Torque to Cat's specification. (which i assume is around 20?)

If your still having troubles, go to arcticchat.com There's alot of different posts about adjusting belt deflection on there.
