I have never been to Island Park. closest I've gotten there was West Yellowstone. What kind of riding does it offer? How does it compare to Togwotee or Cooke City or the Snowies?

Wayne,
check out the links under the schedule on my home page MOMSMOTORSPORTS.COM.
There are links to maps, downloadable pdf's. The riding area is huge with a ton of variety. Only visiting twice, we have explored and covered a small spec on the map.
Great areas to ride: on the north, lions head and two tops mountains. On the west, West Yellowstone and Black Canyon. To the south, Big Springs fishery area and the Mesa Falls. And to the east, Mt Jefferson and Sawtell. Do a google search on those area names and lots of stuff will come up, investigate before we get there.

Thank you Jacob! I will just follow you around like I did at Cooke City. That is a trip I will definitely do again with you guys. I missed the links but will check it out. Sled is in shop at Peacock $2980 in trail riding damage. Quicker I get back off trail the safer I feel. Lol

Right side belly pan, lower right side A arm, Side panel with decals, SLP can, exhaust springs and doughnuts, SLP hot air vent kits, windshield, headlight assembly, 4 motor mounts, some other mounting hardware, can temp shield, cold air intake assemby for brake cooling, other misc., rivets, etc. and labor. Didn't look bad at all to me other than the grey duct tape holding it all together. It will be ready for Island Park so they say at Peacock LTD. in Baldwin. They have always taken fantastic care of me there.
Oh! and the hood with all my trail permits was unscathed.

Insurance said, no. They said fix it and cut the check to both the dealer and I. Now I have parts back ordered. I visited Peacock LTD. today and they said they will have all parts and back together for me in time for Island Park. Was border line on buying an 11 Assault 800 with 144 track. Need more track if I am going to spend the coin. Looks like snow checking around 3/22/11 a Pro RMK 155. will save the tank I have for my son to ride.

Island Park, Idaho.....
12 riders in the BIG rig on the way out. 24 sleds. 4 Guys sent sleds and drove out, and another 5 flew out and sent there sleds and gear with our transport unit. Plus we had a small group meet us here wrapping up there two week trip.
The conditions are favorable on the east west side of two tops. A mild warm up today created snow base that made it easy to poke around in the trees and mess around with some small climbs on the way up. There is a ton of snow based up from early year and last weeks blasting plus there was a layer of fresh about 4-8 inches. Here are a few pics from today. All you guys with shorties debating on making it out here look closely at the 500 Formula 121 and the Rush 121, not trail riding either.

Day 2....
Well, the snow has officially set up. Warm days and cool overnight temps have based up some hero snow. Even the 121's are off trail riding ALL day long. We hit white elephant pass, jefferson, dropped yahoo and out to red rock. A great day to be climbing and posting high marks in the faces.
pic
1-My doo in a tree well. Kevins' sled took a ghost ride down the hill. I managed to catch it, hit it and deflect it away form these trees. However, it pushed me in.
2-121 fun on the way to Jefferson.

Here is a shot from the top of Jefferson 10500ft, went there on day two and posted some high marks. We didn't take the pass your talking about(shotgun to white elephant). We scaled the south east side of Sawtell and poked our way into Jefferson near white elephant then moved north ripping up the range. Dropped off Yahoo and down to Red Rock. Now that was a run for the boys.

Day 3...
Fresh snow today and this evening made for low visibility. Big fluffy flakes, much needed in the hills. There is a great base with a strong crust but it will give way to the sugar underneath. There are pockets of sugar here and there too. We headed up near lion head to the north and explored around Dry Creek and Targee Creek. Poking around on the ridges and ravines mad for a good day in the trees with the low visibility.

Sounds like something I wish I would have done when I was 30 Years younger than I am. I was happy to get as high as I did when I went up to Jefferson in 08.
Thats one experience you get at Island Park that makes it worth the Drive. Have fun and be carefull, last time I was there I watched search and rescue go up to Jefferson.

If you Go West of Red Rock there is a Moose reserve you drive thru. The Snow gets a little thin out there. There is a small Bar by a Lake thats a nice stop, then you cross the Lake and double back. The Trail is ungroomed west of Red Rock, its worth the Trip if you have time.

Lawry, from Island Park Cabins and Lodges took as for a couple of rides as the conditions set up over the last two days. Warm days, with light snow, and cool nights have melted and re firmed up the crusty snow. Day 4 we played of the west side of two tops in some creek beds. Day 5, We did manage to find some fresh stuff around Black Canyon. Lots of playing of the edges of the canyon, sidehilling, cornice jumping and downhill powder turns filled the afternoon.

Rolling out of town early tomorrow mornin, and we shouldn't have hit the snow more perfectly. It took a huge hit yesterday. Was out at shotgun last nite and had a blast! Best snow we found was in Mechanics, and basicly everywhere we went was untouched 6" to 8" inches on top of a hero snow. I willl be back next year!

Kev, Not much you guys could do when the whole state of North Dakota shuts down it's roads. We did the not so safe method of black ice and back roads in 45-60 MPH winds in the middle of nowhere in the middle of night. We drove 3 hours before seeing a house light at one point. Winter is alive and well out west. I would do it again! Good side was our mileage went up from 40 MPG to 43.75 MPG after slowing down for the storm.

it varies by location, best to discuss it with Rick directly. I flew out for this trip... missed my connection on the way out and some ride time but also missed the 48 hour ride back.
1st post, sweet. Rick has beat me home in the past when I flew out of Tog. And **** Cheeny was in Jackson Hole causing delays and missed Chicago flight. Now I am trying to figure out who you are since a few others flew out too.

Thank you for having us! I was in the less rowdy cabin. Thanks for the note pads and stickers, etc.
