I'm toying with the idea of buying one and wanted to see what people thought about these things or what experience they've had. I would like a 350cc but they are extremely rare so will most likely have to settle for a 200cc. Does anyone have one? Does anyone know much about them or have any recommendations? I know Lenny has one and already emailed him.

If you don't know what I'm talking about... this is a picture of one.

Wow thats a cool looking bike. Curious why you whould want one though? Why not just get a yz 250f ? Ive never rode a big wheel - but I would think you could go through alot more with a regular dirt bike.

Cheap, fun (had a 80cc as a kid) and can go through/over more than your typical dirt bike. Ever since I had one as a kid I wanted another.. but bigger.

Cool man, when you get one bring it UP and lets go exploring. They are pretty rare dont see them around very much.

Because the novelty will wear off after awhile. Quit talking about atv's and dirt bikes and just get yourself a Harley. You know you want one.

Now thats a harley. Sweet bike bro.

fgsacts...I feel alot more in my element in the woods. Weather its on 2 wheels or 4 wheels or tracks. When I retire I'll have a big loud road cruizer, maybe.

cuzzinolaf...the pic of that bike is amazing was it brand new at time of picture?

Anybody else on JD have one of these big wheels?

I went and looked at the Big Wheel tonight ready to buy. It ran good but I noticed an oil leak after I pulled it back into the garage. Turns out the case is cracked on the rear upper part of the engine case. Supposedly this is an easy fix yet uncommon. He said something about some time of jb weld type adhesive and will let me know tomorrow. Sounds like coin off the deal if I even consider it still.

I'm actually now looking at TW200 since they're street legal and fun little trail bikes. I don't need anything fast or powerful, and like Ranlam, would rather ride the woods but have the option to hit the road on the TW200. Next hurdle is the wife LOL.

This one is looking tasty.

that' would be my next bike. I don't think the bw 200 is cumbersome. compared to a dirt bike yea but for riding they are versatile. You ain't gonna be jumping with the thing but going places it will do very good, climbs like a mountain goat

cuzzinolaf..that TW looks like a pretty cool woods bike.
As for the big wheel. I wouldnt trust JB weld to fix anything important.

Any comments on this:

He looked it over and says it is an easy fix because of where the crack is. He explained that the crack is above the oil line, and not much pressure gets built up there. He explained there is a apoxy made for this application. He is going to be cleaning the area, surface grinding the hairline crack to make an indention in it. He will then fill it with the apoxy filler and sand back to smooth. He says this is a permanent fix, and should last forever.

I used some j/b weld 5 years ago on my predator block and its been flawless. I was able to do the inside and outside and sanded down where the gasket met the removable side plate for changeing the oil filter. While it does work it defintly made the resale value worthless so i would say if the price is right why not??

AH HA! I just got off the phone with you and Jamie was asking what a Big Wheel was. I came down, googled for a pic and here's this thread.

If you don't hook up with the guy I gave you the contact info for, don't put off the one with the cracked case. Get me a pic of where it's cracked and we'll bust out the TIG and take care of it. Get a discount of course.

cuzzinloaf, I have a Big Wheel 350 for sale and the condition is excellent. Tires are like new. It doesn't need anything. I just put a brand new OEM CDI Box on it. You're welcome to come and look at it. It's in my storage building now and it's completely original. Thanks, Kip

Cool bikes, but would not have them for my only bike. Not sure exactly what you are using it for, but a good all around bike is a Klx250. It is dual purpose, so you can pop on the road, and do 80 mph(with a few mods, pipe, jetting, air box, and sprocket it will go 90mph). It is light so tossing it around in the woods is no problem. Last year 09's with low miles(around 2000)were listed for $3,000 on CL. 09's and newer have redesigned frame, and electronic gauges.

For riding in the woods stay away for heavy bikes.

I think I found the bike. I like the BW350 Kip has but also like the idea of something street legal. Now that I'll have one I need to find people to ride with.

I rode one a riding buddy had in the early 90s. The reason why those bikes are so rare is they are dangerous. The balloony tires bounced all over, and I could hardly ride it. The TW200 had smaller tires, which reduced the bouncing. It would be fine for slowly putzing around the woods, but not much else.

I should get it tomorrow. It was too good of a deal on a basically new bike to pass up. I really started thinking about the BW350 and the DZR400 because of more power but figured I could upgrade if needed and still not lose money. We'll definitely ride the spring/summer.

I did. Its not the most powerful bike, it isn't the biggest, and isn't the fastest; but it looks cool and will be the perfect trail bike for Michigan AND it is street legal.

Can't wait for this summer.

cooksend..nice bike, is that a 426? Anytime you want to ride let me know. I live here but work in Wisc. during the week but I am home on most weekends. Were gonna have dual sport/enduro ride on Memorial weekend. White Pine to Copper Harbor (we been talking about it on the MI-TRALE map thread). Otherwise when we just bang around here we like to keep it tight and twisty, we also make lots of runs from White Pine to Rockland or White Pine to Bergland. We just like to have fun and explore mostly.

Not sure what would happen if he drove his bike inside Full Throttle Saloon. Maybe they would hang it up next to the Honda 70 that, "started it all".
