Kemosabe Cabins?????

What's up with Kemosabe Cabins? Looks to possibly be out of business. I have called 3 times and left messages about an upcoming reservation and have not gotten any reply. I have stopped by Kemo Cabins 3 times in November and it looks as if they just up and left. For sale sign posted and another sign reads closed. The place still has summer lawn chairs outside and air conditioners are still in the windows of the cabins.
My deposit most likely left with them???

Its really a shame. They had a dream to come up and make it work, but it wasn't what they expected. They were digging a hole and just stopped digging.

They were good to snowmobilers as well as Mike the previous owner. Maybe the next guys can make it work.

Wow that stinks. Always looked at the web cam and read the updates. I always wanted to stay there, but never could get the guys to go over that way. Shame.

You would think they could have at least notified the people that held rservations with them. I feel sorry for the family that travels up there for a vacation just to find the place closed. Good luck finding another place to stay.
I personally had a reservation with Kemosabe cabins and was not notified that they were not open.

I also had a reservation and security deposit for my group and was not notified. Guess I can kiss that good bye. Wish they would post out of business. Just hope bad health didn't return to Jeff or just the economy.

This was my favorite place to stay is any one still there did they move out is any one going to be there at all they are great people and yes iI hope its not Jeff health Whitefawn can you updates us to whats going on up there thanks for any info and pray for l.e.s.

I am not sure what happened exactly.. I do know I talked top him a couple weeks b4 he headed out and he said nothing.. We did not hang out or reallly do anything at all But through the winter and summer we would send people to each others resorts when booked ourselves and i could tell he was getting burnt out.. Which is really easy to have happen in this business.. it's 24-7-365, if you want to succeed.. Thats all I know

We swung by there a week ago when up that way on the sleds. It was odd, lawn furniture still out, flag flying. Just a whiteboard that said "closed". No plowing, so must be the real estate agent doesn't expect to show it much in the winter time.

I really enjoy that area of the state, would be a great 2nd careeer ( the one where it doesn't matter if you make money)

Got to thinking about this place today and found the real estate listing http://www.wildriversrealty.com/listing-e9215-powell-lake-rd-wetmore-mi-49895-54016.html, I think 139K is at least 100K cheaper than Mike had it listed for several years ago - the ad also says "as-is" - I wonder if it fell into disrepair. I hope not, was a neat place and would be nice to see someone make a go of it again.

My brothers and I are in the process of re-opening the cabins,,, We are suppose to close on the place 11/16/2012 and we will be working hard to get the place up and running for the winter season,,, We are looking to try to keep the place the same as was before because after researching Kemosabe it seemed to be a very nice place with some wonderful people staying at them and we are hoping that we will be able to bring back the people that loved going there,,,, As I get more information I will pass it on

Update,,,
Kemosabe Cabins are now called Knotty Pines Resort. There was been a lot of work done and still more to come. We have had to do some work on the place since it sat so long but we now have the lower unit which was units 5 and 6 all done. Presently we are combining them as one unit since the glass door can only be locked on the inside. Since we have change the name of the place we are also changing the name of the units. So the lower units which were 5 & 6 are now called the Hemlock and the Tamarack cabins. The upper units 1, 2 & 3 are called (1) White Pine (2) Red Pine (3) Jack Pine cabins. In the lower units we just put new 32" flat screen tvs in there which we will be putting in all the cabins as we finish up remodeling. The Red Pine cabin is getting a whole new look and will be the model for the rest of the upper units. We are working on a website and we will post as soon as it is up and running. The new number which is really the old local number to the place is 906-387-4538. There is still a bit of work to do but our goal is to have it as good as it was before and hopefully better. Like stated before the lower unit is reay for reservations. Since the lower unit is going to be a combine unit as a rental it will have two of everything. Two tvs, batherooms with showers only, kitchens. The sleeping is 6 comfortably which consist of 3 double beds and 3 top single beds, but will hold up to 11 because along with the double beds there are 2 pull out couches.
Forgot to mention that we are working on putting satalite tv in and also will be WIFI in the cabins.

Yes we will have a webcam. We are waiting for our website developer to finish up our page. We may just get the page put up as is so we can atleast have a calendar and web cam so people can view the available dates and the snow on the ground.

Work was completed today on new flooring installed in cabin 2. We now have 4 units ready for this winter, that will be all we will have this winter. Hopefully we will have all 6 units completed by the end of the summer. Website is still under development hopefully will be complete by middle of next week. We are operational still waiting on a few things like the cable guy???, right now the only wifi that is available will be in the office until we can get that set up in all the units. I would like to thank everyone for their interest in Knotty Pines. A big thank you to John for this website!!!

I was told that there was 2" of snow that was on the ground this morning. Hope it keeps coming.
