1977 Raleigh Rampar. It was still in original box when I got it a year ago and I assembled. It's not a high end bike but for sure a great piece of bmx history,,,$200 firm. it's not a low end bike either, bmx was just starting to blossom in that era. I've only riden it around the street. It has it's share of scratches from banging around in a box against stuff but it's really nice.

here's another sweet bike. It's a waterford Standard STA from 94. Matching frame, fork and bars. Factory translucent powder over chrome. Great example of early freestyle and a desirable bike in this color. I called Standard personally and they told me either 1 or 2 were finished in that green. Easily worth $300

I also have another 1998 GT Team series 24" race bike. King hubs and head set, profile BB and 185 cranks, xtr brakes, Thomson seat post. Wheels alone are $700. Kevlar seat with Ti-rails. This is a fast high end race bike with the same geometry as a 2012 race bike. Easily over $1600 invested. Bike is a 9 of 10 in appearance. I did race it in 2 motos and a main about 5 years back at a Rockford Illinois National. This would still be a great race bike or even a nice trails bike. Very light weight all 6061 heat treated aluminum frame and Stiletto gt cro-mo forks. It's up in the attic but I would get it out if any one was seriously interested. It's powder coated black with red hubs, red JP pedals and red Bulldog brake lever.

how about a 2007 Yamaha majesty scooter. If your not familiar with this bike than check it out. Liquid cool 400cc 4 stroke fully automatic drive like a sled. 55 mpg and will run all day on the interstate at 70. it's a 2 seater and the wife and I did ride it. Super smooth machine. Top speed of 90. Under 4000 miles. $2900

How about an early 1900's Kerosene cook stove. This stove is roughly 100 years old with green porcelain. Has a oven also, decent condition with some rust but would clean up. No dents, cracks or missing parts. $275

I wouldn't say a lot but I ride on the streets with my kids often in the summer months. I've done 3 cross country trips with my brothers, about 4000 miles. If I lived near a bmx track I would race in a heart beat and I would keep the GT cruiser, it's my baby. I rode all day as a kid and raced some. Here is a pick from 1980, I was 15. Built this $700 super nice race bike with my paper route money. Took 2 years to build it the exact way I liked. Bikes are very important to me and I will never be without one. My brother was just up here and we discussed some preliminary plans for our next cross country trip in early Oct of 2013 or 14. Cali coast to Chicago suburb, Aurora. Will be close to 25 days on a bike, there's nothing like it. May sound crazy but the smells and scenery are a high point, trees, flowers, grass and the road kill is the low point,,, major stanky! It's just so relaxing and satisifying to be on the road. To me, even better than a motorcycle because you see everything so close up.
Sweet socks!!

I've always had a love for bikes but for me, it was more or less "how crazy of a bike can you make" LOL I rode my bike to school everyday from 4th grade-8th grade, had a snowmobile ski and a studded bike tire on one of them. now i live 15 miles away from my high school and it just isn't practical. I take it you don't ride bmx bikes on them long road trips do you? Love the socks btw! LOL

I know what you mean about crazy bikes. I had 5-6 bikes as a kid and my dad could hardly deal with it so I did learn to be somewhat neat with them. Anyways,, I cut the forks legs off the steerer tube and built a chopper, it was cool. We'd ride all over town jumping every bump we saw We'd jump off bike path culverts into ponds, meet back at my house and tear our bikes apart and re-grease all the bearings.
On the road trips I ride a hybrid (cross bike) really set up for me and comfort. Its an American made Gary Turner (GT) 26". Here a few pics, my brothers Russ on Left and Jeff in the center, me on the right,, duhh. The first pic is where we started out in Aurora Illinois at our parents house. Some pics on the road at points of interest, kissing the ground after riding on a seal coat road for 10 miles. Making our destination at the Outer Banks NC right on the ocean.

few more, last one at Rockford BMX track 5-6 years ago on my vintage bike. Actually those red skyway mag wheels I bought in 1980, same ones in the pics with the tube socks. Looking at these pics again makes me want to race, it's such a rush, or just ride any bike, don't really matter!

Still have my late 80's dyno??? bmx/freestyle with skywalker mags. My sons likes riding that versus newer bike he has.

I just wish I had a welder when I was younger. I extended the forks for a cross country ski, and later made another extension for the snowmobile ski all with wood.

Here is one of my brothers team bikes when you rode for Gt. This bike is late 80's early 90's. I have a brand new Haro Master at the store that is 20 years old. When he rode Haro's he always had to have 3 bikes because that always broke. This is the Specialized I am riding for the winter when dry. Do not want to ride the Trek Madone with the salt.

Good to know there's more bikers that ride sleds. I rode the entire length of lower Michigan this summer with my wife...we both have carbon road bikes. My true love is the mountain bike, though. I currently have four in the garage (plus two road bikes, the wife's road bike, a cyclocross bike and a 1970 Schwinn Twinn tandem). Last fall, I brought this bad boy home...it fills the gap between biking and snowmobiling! Salsa Mukluk...3.7" tires!

I was also just kidding about the socks. I was 10 in 1980 and ran them socks every day of the year cranked up to my knees! Also had a buch of cut off, to short jean shorts. Classic.

Very Cool! Snow biking is really catching on up here in da UP. The local cross country ski trails are allowing snow bikes, and there are now three or four snow bike races between Houghton and Marquette. I would love to get one, but can't afford it right now, and I'm not going to choose snow biking over snowmobiling!

Yeah...choosing snowbiking over sledding would be a tough one for sure...and I'm a hardcore biker! Fortunately...no issue here as the forest preserve where I ride doesn't allow anything motorized. Last Friday I got out in the 6 inches of fresh that fell Thursday night...I was the second one on the trail. It was my first REAL experience using the bike for what it was intended...and it was so much fun I couldn't believe it. I've ridden in the snow for many years on a regular mtb (my bike of choice is a rigid steel singlespeed 29er)...it just blew that away. The big tires float you on the snow...really a cool feeling. As a added bonus, the recent proliferation of snow bikes on my local trails packed a PERFECT ribbon by Sunday...almost like a groomer went through!

Have not done any Mtn biking, seems like fun though. I really want to ride bmx trails with jumps. I have talked to guys up and want to find that perfect terrain to have natural jumps and man made jumps. I'm not talking big big air but more so shorter jump with big lips, 15-25 ft gaps. Stuff you pump the down side and just flow through the trails.
That snow bike looks incredible, looks pricey also but it sure is worth it. Those brakes are killer!

Lenny...just do a search on "dirt jump bikes." That's what Danny M rides...basically a 26" hardtail mountain bike with a suspension fork and a relaxed geometry. The seats are usually slammed and basically unusable. They are HEAVY...built to take a hit. Haro, Mongoose, Scott, Trek, Transition....there are a TON of manufacturers.

My current arsenal includes: Kona Kilauea (26"hardtail mountain bike, built as a singlespeed), Salsa Mukluk (fatbike), Voodoo Soukri (geared 29er mountain bike), Milwaukee Bicycle Company singlespeed 29er (Waterford/Gunnar steel frame with carbon fiber fork), Trek Madone 4.5 (road bike), Trek 2300 (road bike I keep in Colorado), Rocky Mountain Solo 70 (wife's carbon road bike), a Chinese carbon Pinarello knockoff (road bike...for sale), Schwinn Stingray (decoration in the basement), and a Schwinn Twinn tandem from 1970 that was given to my parents as a wedding present (my wife and I now use it as a bar cruiser). I've also got a Colnago cyclocross bike in the garage that a friend lets me borrow for the CX season and muddy training rides.
Last year I sold a Dean titanium mountain bike and a Titus Racer X full-suspension mountain bike.
This list ALMOST makes me think I MIGHT have a problem....

There is a nice jump line at the Michigan Tech trails off of Sharon Ave. in Houghton. There are 10 or so jumps. All table tops, but fairly tall and floaty. I ride them on a 26" Giant STP hardtail with a suspension fork, but they'd be fun on a rigid bmx bike too.

I do, it is in the works now. I am in need of a couple of more parts. I am looking for a nos blu tange mx 125 headset, a set of dia comp brakes in blue, mabe like 890 and last but not least a kashimax aero seat in blue but I just found one of those. It still needs to go to the anodizer, then I can start to build. I had maybe 4 of them when I was young and now I am trying to replicate the last one I had. Its taken a few years to get all the parts buy I am almost there.
