I don't really watch drag racing all that much but i have noticed that the times have dropped quite a bit since the last time i watched. They were running 4.3's and now they are running 3.8's. Are they not running 1/4 miles anymore? maybe 1000'? thanks!!

I'm sure your talking about NHRA Top fuel and funny cars. They now run 1000' because the cars were just getting to fast and because of a couple driver deaths and close calls in the last couple years. Pro stockers and bikes still run the 1/4 mile.

I have followed the NHRA for over 20 years, I have attended races every year in Chicago and used to go to the US nationals in Indy. I still can not believe the NHRA did this. Its part of the sport,a full 1/4 mile, not 1000 ft. Even the top fuel drag boats runs a full 1/4 mile. Hopefully the 2010 season they will go back to full 1/4 mile
but most sleds do 660 of 1000 I pref 660 for sleds

In the IHRA series we ran sleds vs bikes in the 1/4 which is great on asphalt, now on grass or ice 660 is probably better

some of the reason they did this in drag racing was because of the shortage of nitro. it also sux because now they cannot set new records. from what ive heard they will go bak to the 1000 foot pretty soon. i here people always talking about how much it sux because i drag race and go 2 many different tracks.
