08-06-2009, 10:27 AM
Was a sad and happy day yesterday, my sister's father-in-law's funeral was yesterday he passed on Sat. morning and then yesterday evening my cousin and his wife had a baby boy Brandon Gordon Foster 7lbs 12oz 20 1/2". So he has my intials but changed from GBF to BGF
I also got to see a friend of mine that I went into the Air Force with in 1980 and hadn't seen since about 1983 so like I said sad and happy kind of a weird feeling.
Everyone have a great day

Hey all! I've been a bit busy these last few days... and need some prayers...
Dustin is really sick. He's been running an extremely high fever since Tuesday night. Tuesday night he was at 103.9 - sudden onset of fever, massive headache, stiff and sore neck and back. Took him to the ER - they did a strep test and chest xrays... all negative. They said his physical symptoms were not of menengitis... so they gave him some tylenol and sent him home.
The fever persisted, getting up to 104+, so I kept him dosed with Motrin and Tylenol Wednesday, floated him in the lukewarm bath, and took him to see the doc on Thursday.
She tested him for mono, strep again, and she also did the up the nose flu swab. That will take 48 hours to come back. So, he said keep up with the Motrin and Tylenol and she added the flu prescription Tamiflu.
So Thursday night he spikes out at 105.4!!! NOT KIDDING! I put him in the luke warm bath again and called the Doc. Doc said to dose him with the motrin and tylenol on a 4 hour rotation... Tylenol, every 4 hours Motrin every 6 hours, along with the Tamiflu twice a day.
HOLY SHEOT - it's been a rough week! I've been calling my Roaster Boy... he's cooking his own ham here! Dustin is never sick... so it's been really hard on him. Poor little dude.
So this morning... he's down to 99.9. He's sleeping and mad cuz I wake him up every 2 to 4 hours.
Thanks for the support... I'm gonna go check on him again!

Jul's, prayers on the way for Dustin from me. I hope he breaks the fever soon. It's so tough seeing your kids sick. I hate it when mine are, you just want to hold them and make it all go away.
Good luck little guy,
08-07-2009, 12:00 PM
Happy friday everyone. I for one am ready for the weekend but not the heat that is coming.
Looks like everyone had a good time. Great pics!
Juls - prayers to you and the little. No, never easy when the kids are sick. Sounds like the temp has come down and that's good. Hope he starts coming around and gets back to normal soon.
Take care everyone.
08-07-2009, 12:40 PM
Julie, will keep Dustin in my prayers and hope he is on the mend.
Serena, hope all is well with you. (I am here in Munising with lots of sunshine, warm temps, calm Lake (Superior), picking berries, watching beautiful sunsets.) Ahhhhh! wonderful, wonderful, sure does beat traffic traffic and more traffic.

Happy Friday! It's supposed to get toasty this weekend and I am playing in a softball tournament all weekend. Can you say sweaty? Ugh!
Andie - Great pictures! The Bash looks like it was fun. Oh, and there is the missing Cop-A-Squat picture!
Julie - Prayers are still going out for Dustin. I hope the fever goes away soon. It's sucks that they can't find a reason why he is sick.
Carole - I'm jealous. I want to be up in Munising! However, I will be heading up to Houghton on Wednesday, so I can't complain too much.
Just a couple more hours of work to get through....
08-07-2009, 07:35 PM
Well hot DAMN! We have a diagnosis!!! Dustin officially has pneumonia!! The spot on his lung is about the size of my palm - the doc looks at the xray and says OH MY GOD! That scared the crap out of me! So, he got a shot in the hamhock of antibiotics and has to take the pills. He SHOULD be feeling better in 48 hours. IF he still has a fever on Monday he has to go back to the doc. This momma is takin' a nap!
REV IT UPx3!
08-08-2009, 10:31 AM
Juls: Amen for a diagnosis! That is some scary crap...We have had Kira at 106.2 on our thermometer and that freaks you the heck out. Hope he gets better quickly!
Hey all...have a good weekend.
08-09-2009, 01:03 PM
When I was reading Dustin's symptoms I knew right away that he had pneumonia! I had double lung pneumonia about two years ago, I know the pain all to well! When my girlfriend took me to the emergency room I was blue in color, dont get me wrong I love the color of Yamaha blue but I still like to breath! I spent a week in the hospital and another two and half weeks recovering at home! I also had laproscapral surgery, they go in through my nose and cut tissue from my lungs because they were spots that were questionable from the x-rays and MRI's, turned out they were not cancer!
Hope Dustin has a speedy recovery!
By the way, I had been to the walk in clinic three times before the emergency room and they could not figure it out! Nice!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Field - Yep... I was getting to the point that if someone didn't do the right tests RIGHT NOW I was gonna put the fear of Julie up all over them!
Dustin is doing GREAT TODAY!!! He had a low grade fever last night when he went to bed, so he took some tylenol. I checked on him this morning, NO FEVER! Gave him is antib and he went back to sleep. He's still sleeping, and NO FEVER! I am soooo happy! Lots of rest for the next fews days. Lots of good healthy fluids and light food to bring him back to all good.
THANKS FOR ALL THE PRAYERS and support. I LOVE MY JD FAMILY!!!

Brother Vinnie! Do you HONESTLY think I will let you get by with just a post??? What about a picture of the NEW LOOK!? I've been hearing that it's pretty HOT HOT HOT! Come on, let's see it! What a great way to get your new look too… you are just a generous person! GOD BLESS YA BIG BRO!
I was SO EXCITED for Josh and Meghan - I plan to purchase their CD as soon as it hits the stores!! Ya know... this could open some doors for you too!
Great news from the Campbell House - Dustin is FEVER FREE! No fever for over 24 hours and he's perking up and getting back to his "old" self! The antibiotic is very strong, so we are keeping an eye on the side effects. Other than that he's doing great. What a scary week we had. NEVER have I experienced anyone with a 105.6 temp! Yowza!
Jim and I scored some nice furniture for our basement living room this weekend! Our neighbor is having their living room redone... so she bought all new furniture and GAVE US her old stuff! It's a great couch with recliners on each end and a rocker recliner. They look really nice in the living room.
They also gave us a nice computer desk so we can get the really old computer out of there and put the other desktop on the new desk. That will open up some good space as well.
AND Jim's friend Keith GAVE US his BOW FLEX! It ROCKS! We can now get rid of all the other crap that is down there and just use the Bow Flex. Who knows… maybe Mr. and Mrs. Tubby Butt will be no more???
Okay, it's homework time! I am so far behind on my math stuff. I have class tomorrow night so I need to get crackin' and get this stuff done so I can take the exam on Tuesday.
I wonder since John is back from Texas (today's forecast) if he will be posting some new pictures of Baby Grace! She is beautiful! I am looking forward to all the baby stories from John and Nora!
Y'all have a GREAT WEEK!

Bigvin - That was a nice thing you did. My daughter did that a few years back and what was so great about it, was that it was all her idea. I was so proud of her.
Julies - I saw one for $1000 obo. Not sure if the condition of the two are comparable though.

Looks good big brudda Vin. Just think, 5 seconds to wash your hair now! I cut 21" off back in November 1998, love my short hair!
08-11-2009, 11:02 AM
Umm, neither buying or selling.
Needed to put a value on it for the divorce lawyer. Yep I said DIVORCE!! I finally got my balls back and kicked the slug out the door. Gonna be a long bumpy road but it will be worth it in the end. Madison is the one i'm concerened about now. Hopefully it will all be done in the next 60 day.
08-11-2009, 11:11 AM
julies, If your hoping for it to be done in 60 days, do as much as you can without the lawyers. They will drag it on as long as possible, and will be the only ones to come out at the end. I know this all too well with an ex that agreed to NOTHING.
08-11-2009, 12:17 PM
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY LARRY! I missed yet another one!
Randy - LOVE the hair! It looks great! I'm sure your head is a lot cooler now too. That was a very awesome thing you did.
Julie - Good luck with the divorce. We did our divorce pro se. No lawyers involved but I have to say that our divorce was pretty amicable. If we were fighting over things, I'm sure there would have been lawyers involved. It is a hard process to go through but it will all work out in the end.
Yeah, last day of work for me this week. I 'm leaving tomorrow for Houghton. I will be staying at the Ramada. I just hope my stupid knee gets better quick (I reinjured it on Sunday night). At least when you kayak you don't use your legs much. Later...
08-11-2009, 01:26 PM
Happy Tuesday from coolish/slightly foggy Munising. Gee!!! Can hardly wait till next Tuesday and NSF returns.
Summer tourist season is definitely here. People everywhere. And kayaks. If snowmobiles are winter, then kayaks are summer up here. And motorhomes, fifth wheels, campers, tents, and bikes every where. And traffic everywhere at any time of the day and night. This is why I prefer May and October up here. Most of the people are gone, but on a brighter note, businesses are happy.
Hello to Serena, Heidi, Sharon and Liz. Don't miss the place, job, travel time, traffic and whatever else comes with the job.
I LOVE IT UP HERE, AND THE WEATHER AND THE LAKE AND FRESH AIR.!!!
08-11-2009, 01:30 PM
Ooops!! Forgot to say:
Julie, glad Dustin is doing much better.
Big Vin, Love the new hair doo!!!!
Scoop, to bad I wasn't up in the Keweenaw, we could maybe get together, would love to meet you.
Ok, gotta go and have some more fun fun fun AFTER I get some air in my one tire.
08-11-2009, 03:01 PM
Scoop, ya the no lawyer won't work here. I had to get an Order for Protection for me and Madison. It's gone way beyond anything I ever imagined!! But i know that I am a strong person and i will keep to the high road and come out ahead in the end. Have fun this weekend!!
08-11-2009, 05:07 PM
Julie S....hang tough! It will and does get better! Our daughter just went through a divorce. No children but they had 3 dogs. She fought for all 3, but bonzo the ex- son-outlaw, got their choc. lab. Michelle was awarded all the household possesions and is living with us in our now newly re-decorated basement, bonzo was awarded their house and all the payments, plus all the credit card debt. He will be staying busy trying to pay off the $200.000+ bills that have accumulated. A big Thankyou to her lawyer Steve, a.k.a. "the pitbull" Good Luck to you!!! Janie
08-11-2009, 05:09 PM
Let me make a correction...not $200.000 but $200,000.00. That's what was meant.
08-11-2009, 05:47 PM
I married a bipolar depressive. She finally showed her true colors after our son was born. The material objects mean nothing so do not bother with them. I told her attorney that they can set the price on all objects and I'll tell them if I'm buying or selling. It really made things get realistic for them. I ended up with very few "Things" but I got our son and our house. I think I definitely made out better. When I went through the divorce I thought it was the worst thing in my life. Now I think it was the best experience I ever had. It made me appreciate the really good people in this world and made me wise (more observant) of the not so good people.
08-11-2009, 06:15 PM
doo dr. that bi-polar condition can be devistating. Our neighbor lady has that and she can really be a handful to her young daughters. The girls are very sweet and try their best not to upset their mother. They tip-toe around her. When their home situation is not at the best, I have told them to come over and groom and play with my miniature horses. They come over and enjoy it quite a lot.
08-11-2009, 06:24 PM
I already know this is the best thing for me, he really squashed my heart and soul over the last 25 years. The one i'm worried about is our daughter, she hasn't asked to see him or talk to him since he was made to leave last week. The only things i want out of this are the kid, sled and house. He wants everything sold and split, unfortunelty for him he's made some really stupid moves and is now in hot water so things will be going my way. I just want my daughter to be ok in the end. I am much happier already and the divorce isn't even final, just having him out of the house is a HUGE relief!! Kinda funny after that many years and i really didn't know who he was, go figure!
And doo dr, i have found the best people in the world right her on JD. I have had more fun, support and laughs in the last 4 years then i have in a life time. You do find out who your friends really are, they have been coming out of the woodwork to help me.
LOVE MY JD FAMILY, wouldn't know what to do without you guys.
08-11-2009, 08:45 PM
Well said doo dr, alot of us have went through this, and its tough but it helps to have good friends.
Janie sorry to hear about your daughter, its good she has great parents to help her get back on her feet.
08-12-2009, 08:52 AM
Similar situation here. The sad thing is I was blinded by “Love”. I turned into a whimpering pup for 28 years! Long story short. I bent over backwards to try and make the split easy but she seems to feel our lawyers need the money more than we do. Hard to understand why people do the things they do. Your so right about the “best experience” point of view. I have learned what I want and need in a relationship. For so long I thought you were supposed to make sacrifices for your significant other. Quite the opposite. They must except you for who you are and vice versa. Changing for the other person is a crock of shat! I’m a flirt! (like no one here knew that already) its me and if you cant except that then its your problem not mine. I my next lady is a porn star and I cant except that then its my problem not hers. Just not fair to put guilt onto someone for who they are.
You got that right! Thats hat I like about the people here. They except me for me! Even knowing I get paid for sex now! lol
08-12-2009, 09:39 AM
Keep a strong upper lip Julies. Remember what ever you do, "No bad mouthing the EX". Your daughter will never forget things that you have said. If your EX has been stupid and said things your daughter is probably questioning his actions and is not sure of the situation.
As for the procedings of a divorce. I suggest that you do mediation. It is 10x's faster than the courts. My mediator was a retired judge (most are) and there job is to make a fair split on paper before it even goes before a judge. Be fair on your requests and they work very well. If one of you wants the MOON, the mediator will let you know really fast. My mediator actually told my EX and her attorney to take my proposal because if it goes before a judge he will recommend that she gets less than my original offer. Best of luck!!!
08-12-2009, 10:19 AM
Squat you may get paid, but not very much.HAHAHAHAAHA Oh I forgot thats you paying yourself for sevices rendered.HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
Sorry I couldn't help myself.

Julies, Keep the high road, and remember, its just "stuff", even the sleds. Everything can be replaced except your happiness and your daughter. Keep her in good spirits and that will keep you in good spirits. I leaned on my kids for that whether they knew it or not.

Have a great day!

I've missed allot!!
My babies are on their way to Freemont, MI to go Skydiving for the first time! I hope all goes well for them and can't wait to here their stories. My oldest said her hands were sweating as she was leaving. http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/happy.gif http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/happy.gif http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/happy.gif
What a great thing you have done with your hair donations.
If I could..a word of advice...if your sure it's over and if I had if to do again...I would file ASAP. In my case money disappeared from a retirement fund and was never found. My friends warned me that he was doing it but, I was too late.
Also, not sure how MN works but, In MI if you have a child it takes 6 months for a divorce to be final. I had to go through a 2 hour and 4 hour session with Friend of the Court with the EX on the affects of Divorce with Children. Also, in MI it's now mandatory or at least it was in Jan of O8 to go through 1 hour of Mediation. In my case I wished I would have done it first instead of last. One good thing at the first court appearance the Judge made it mandatory to go to Friend of the Court with financial info. to decide who pays what for now until it's final. Look up your local court on the Web. They have lot's of great information and can help you fill out papers if need be. Also, Friend of the Court has some great booklets. In MI the Judge likes to see the mom keep the house if possible if she has custody. If you have any more questions feel free to e-mail.
Back to my somewhat vacation. Took my pool down and have been trying to deal with landscaping issues around it before burying it.
I also, had my mom fall 3 times in the last 3 weeks and to the Drs 5 times for injuries and issues. Trying to get in home help for her.

AMEN! Big Vin,
Been a while, I have been lurking but not saying anything cause I had nothin to say.
Biggest news around Central IL is the Extreme Makeover crew is in Bloomington IL. They have equipment in Bloomington and Champaign. Next Tuesday some lucky family will have a visitor at 9:00 AM and sent on vacation while their home is knocked down and a new one built.

Greetings from Hancock, MI! I have been having a great time here at the Ramada socializing with friends and kayaking. The temperatures are unbelievable. We launched our kayaks from Bete Gris beach yesterday and paddled to the Montreal River. Very cool paddle but there were residual swells from the prior day which made the trip interesting. We were going to land by the Montreal River but decided the surf was too strong to land and paddled back to Bete Gris. All I have to say is that is was HOT! I think the temp was around 88 degrees. Amazing for up here. Today we had classes at Sandy Bottom Park in Dollar Bay. One and half days of classes to go until I head home.
KBoo - Hang in there! I'd hate to say this, but my divorce was a cakewalk compared to what yours is turning out to be and what others have been through. Not having any kids made it much easier for me I guess, but it still was an unpleasant process.
And now for a couple of lines from a song I used to hear when I was younger in the Chicago area on WLS radio (I think)....
Aw, what the do I know, I come from Waunakee, I wear animal pelts, I eat raw meat and sleep in a hollow tree....
Pretty funny how I still remember some of that song. Good night from the Keweenaw!
08-15-2009, 01:54 AM
we need a pic to go with that, one of these day you just got to give me a ride in your Kayak thingy
08-16-2009, 08:50 PM
That's a cute song! I'm glad your having fun Kayaking. That's something I might have to try.
My girls came back safe from Skydiving. I have some photos and videos on my FB page. I enjoyed watching their adventure and the scenery.
Hope everyone's had a great weekend. Vacation's over and back to work tomorrow for a week then I have another "Working" Vacation helping my daughter move to college and hopefully at the end of the week I'll get my new windows.

Happy Monday, . . . . http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/proud.gif
Had to go to "orientation" last night at the High School for all NEW students. Man, has that place changed since WAY BACK! LOL! The youngin' is nervous about goint to the "Big School", but I guess everyone is at that age. Things sure do change though. Man, They are now offering college credit courses to get a jump start on post education.
Speaking of education, I don't know if I told y'all or not, but the Local chapter of the University of Wisconsin asked If I would teach a songwriting class this fall! What the heck? So, Looks like that should be a treat!
Sure is getting dark out early these days! YIKES! Just came in from cleaning out the pool. Seems this Hot and Humid weather makes those chemicals work twice as hard to keep it clean. AND with the warmer the water, the softer the hose for the automatic cleaner, which means it ties itself in KNOTS! UGH! LOL!
Apples are sure falling early also. Can you say Apple Pie? Yummy!
FAVOR TO ASK:
Thanks to the Huge radio conglomerant of CLEAR CHANNEL, they feature NEW MUSIC (that of un-signed artists) AND it is shared with ALL of their networks across America. I have 5 songs ON that network. So, If you could, . . . . . (should take but a couple of minutes) Each day, in your list of computer tasks, Log On to your CLEAR CHANNEL network in your area, . . . . . OR, log on to www.fm106.com (http://www.fm106.com) and under the MUSIC tab, Click on the NEW MUSIC category, and scroll down to the bottom. It should have about 9 to 12 artists on the first page (with picture) If Mine is NOT on that page, just click on ARTISTS and you can type randy vanvooren, and it will load my page with all 5 songs. Play each one for about 15 seconds or so, and rate it at "5" stars, then go on to the next one, ect., . . . . . THIS WILL BE A TREMENDOUS HELP in getting my tunes played NATIONALLY. It REALLY does work! They usually play the songs that get the most "action" There are some bands that have over a MILLION plays! and some of those have actually since, been signed to Major Labels. I know it is only a "shot in the dark" but it really helps. Tell your friends about it also! Who Knows? ? ? ?
Thanks for your time, and have a GREAT Day!

Jeepers Creepers Big Vin, you look fantastic! Now you don't have to worry about being recognized on the Post Office wall anymore!
Eric and Andie- Are you gracing us with your presence at the end of the month? Did you finally get the tix?
BIG HELLO to the rest of you and hope all is well,

Hey All! WINTER IS COMING! SNOW WILL FLY!!!
Vinnie - I've been clickin' and playin' for ya! I even found the link on my local Clear Channel station and have been requesting that they play your songs!!! I keep sending them an email with the link to your songs and request that they play them on the air! TOO COOL!
Soooooooooooo yeah... things are crazy here in my world.
Dustin is doing GREAT! He's 100% back to normal - and he's eating! When he got his appetite back it was like a huge vacuum sensation! Then all the food in the house disappeared!
Jim got called back to Fabcon and then 4 days later they cancelled it. Those basturds!! So Jim is back to bustin' his arse looking for work! What a cluster!
I'm still jobless... doing the college thing - which is kicking my arse and I'm applying for jobs - the number of jobs to apply for has dropped considerably! Which scares me. My severance money runs out 9/18. One month from tomorrow. Then my unemployment won't kick in until the end of October. For some reason the state of MN thinks 6 months of severance will last 7.5 months. Go figure - maybe their algebra skills suck?
So I'm keeping busy, Jim is keeping busy and the boys are ready to go back to school. School starts Tuesday September 8th. They are gonna be very unhappy little men when those alarm clocks go off at the butt crack of dawn! Dylan will be in 7th grade and Dustin will be in 5th.
Princeton Grass Drags and Hay Days is a comin'! I'm hoping we've got the cash to at least GO and hang out! I LOVE watching the races!! And at Hay Days they have the Freestyle stuff going on too.
Back to Algebra… barf.

Keep it on your daily schedule, to stop by and click on them a couple times a day if you can, it will take a while, but someday, all those clicks will add up, and it WILL make a difference. Thanks Again!
Back to the "honey-do" list LOL!

Well Dylans buckle for his football shoulder pads was bent and wouldn't go into the slot, so I was holding the buckle on one end with a pair of pliers and the other end had the visegrips clipped on it, when I went to straighten the buckle it broke and the visegrips came flying back and hit me in the head, thought Dylan was gonna pass out for a second or 2, he doesn't do well with cuts and blood, I told him he was really makin progess a couple of years ago he would have dialed 911 and had a bambalance on the way.HAHAHAHA

Nothing yet on the Muckster, talked with him this morning he had to be at the hospital at 10:30 am Chris is supposed to call when he gets out.
Kaboo, yup got a good shinner but I've had worse, came home on leave for Christmas one year and got into a fight the night I got home took a punch to the left side of my face that split my check to the bone, eye was swollen shut for Christmas, Mom was really impressed but she understood, and approved, the other feller needed a lesson in manors and he got it, heard he had over a hundred stiches in his head.

Ahhhh, Friday! I can't wait to get out of here. I am actually enjoying the fact that the softball season is over and I have my nights back. Tomorrow I am going to the pre-season Packer game. It should be fun.

BigVin - I clicked on your songs yesterday. I still have to find some time to do it today. I hope it helps you out.

Larry is out of surgery and in recovery, everything went great.
BV, Larry ripped the muscle off the bone on his right shoulder, they are talking about 6 months of recovery so maybe no sleddin this season, hopefully it wasn't as bad as what they thought and he will be ready by sleddin season.
I ripped the tendon in my right shoulder at work on July 1st and have been in physical theropy since it happened trying to fix it without havin surgery hopefully it will work or I will be down for 3 months
08-21-2009, 06:19 PM
Brad - thanks for the update on larry - been thinking about him!!!
Eric too has issues with his right shoulder. Reinjured it this summer - went to the ortho and they gave him a cortizone shot. Hopefully that's going to do the trick - or he's going to have surgery too. He tore his rotator cuff tendon and something else - so we'll see I guess.
And Brad - glad you didn't hit your eye!! OUCHIE!
Wounds heal, bones mend and CHICKS DIG SCARS!
Speaking of which - the boys are up north wheeling - hopefully we won't have any of those above items to tend to - but alas - boys will be boys...... ROFL
BV - 2 days down - 2 times I've played all the songs! i can't say which is my fav - too hard to choose!! http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/happy.gif
Scoopy - have fun at the game! Kinda wish I could go to tonights Vike's game - but then again - kinda not! It's going to be an absolute madhouse downtown!!!! Makes me giggle that you're just getting your nights back and in 2 weeks I start bowling again and CAN'T WAIT! LOL granted - it's only once a week - but I miss it now.....
I will try to stop back more often! FB is just too addicting!
Shh - don't tell anyone - I'm sneaking out of the office early - it's a total ghost town here so hopefully no one will miss me!

Time to head to my final math class for this session. I have to take a final exam - did the practice and did okay on it... lots of stupid errors!!! Have to be careful for the final!

08-25-2009, 06:41 PM
That's great news BV! Since the counts are all pretty close, it shouldn't be long before the other 3 make the top 20 also. From some testing I did, it appears it takes a full 15 second play to get the count to increment. Does that sound about right?
08-25-2009, 10:17 PM
Well, it looks like knee surgery may be in my future. I am having an MRI done tomorrow to confirm, but the doctor suspects I have a torn ACL and a possible torn meniscus. I have an appointment on Friday with the doctor so he can look at the MRI and discuss the next steps. I am not looking forward to this, but it is something that must be done as my knee is unstable.
Julie - I hope the math final went well.

I hope EVEYRONE has a great weekend!!!
I DID IT! I passed my FINAL!!! When I got to class Tuesday night I was made aware of an miscommunication... I had to take the two UNIT TESTS FIRST! So I took both of them Tuesday night... but ran out of time for the final. SO the professor said I could come back Wednesday and take the final.
I PASSED! I got 100% on my final!!! That should give me an A for the cass and keep my 4.0 in tact!!!
I do have to take the Math class again to complete the third section. That section is a requirement for me to take the next level class which is the stats class. I heard it's NOT the same as taking stats at the HS ball games and sales stats! DOH!
I also found out there is NO BREAK between this class and the next. Next class starts Tuesday! It's Management 303... People manager strategies. That should be fun.
Ohhh and one more thing... I got a call Wednesday from a contract company. They want to submit me for a really great job. He said I'm PERFECT for it. So, I talked to him at length on Thursday and we tweeked my resume and he submitted it. Hopefully I hear something from him next week. It would be a contract for 6 months and then a POSSIBLE permanent hire. GOD WILLING! Prayers!!!
Gotta go SHOPPING!

Happy Friday Family! Hope you all have a good day and great weekend!
Scoop - hope all goes well. I know the feeling, tore my meniscus a few years back on a trampoline (I blame the alcohol)but never got it repaired. It's gone out a few times and put me out of commision for a few days but has gotten better.
Bigvin - songs are good!
Andie - welcome to Chi Town. Hope all goes well with Eric's shoulder.
Kelly - thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Take care everyone!

Great job in school as well!
Not much new here.
If anyone is looking or knows anyone in need of a dog kennel, I have one for sale. I posted it in the jd miscellaneous section. It is the Lucky Dog welded wire kennel.
Heading to the state fair on Sunday. Tia is doing the 5K Milk Run early before the fair and then it's chow time, I mean fair time. Should be great weather to take it all in.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Geeezsh! Being the anal one I am, I decided "not-so" long ago, to video-tape the SAME scene of the "First Day Of School". From Kindergarden all the way through her Senior year. Thought it would be cool to "See her grown up on tape" (13years in 10 minutes). WOW! Another beautiful day on tap today and it is supposed to be nice here through Labor Day. How awesome. I just wish I had the foresight to take a couple of vacation days and enjoy the weather instead of being stuck inside.
Well, it is official. I will be having knee surgery on Sept. 9 to reconstruct my ACL and hopefully repair my meniscus. I am not looking forward to it. I am not supposed to drive for three weeks which means I will completely lose my mind. I can't imagine not being able to hop in the truck and go when I need something. We'll see if I last the three weeks. We'll see how the knee feels and works.
BigVin - Ahhh, time flys, doesn't it? Wow, she is a teenager already! I have to agree with Dave, she is getting close to the age where it will not be cool to ride the bus, even though I still did throughout high school. Neither me nor my friends could afford a car (plus our parents didn't want us to have a car).
Julie - Have fun getting the boys back to school.
I have to get back to work. I am going to try and get as much done before I have the week off after my surgery. Later...

Wow what an awesome evening, sitting on the patio, drinking a cold beer, on the laptop. Very nice!
My daughter started her freshman year yesterday, dang, where did the time go? Her first words today after school, sophomores-seniors started today, were " holy crap everyone is so tall!" "I just about got run over today" LOL. She is 4'11" and I don't know if she is goin to get much taller. She keeps trying to blame me. LOL. Man how times flys. Pretty soon she will be off to college. http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/sad.gif
Big long weekend coming up, and the weather is going to be great, looks like there will be some waterskipping being done on Sunday, hope I don't sink it! But if I do, it will be ok, I have to commence to the project of putting the new tunnel/bulkhead on my sled anyways. The RMK will look a little different this coming winter.
Hang in there Scoop, it is for the better, maybe they can turn you into the Bionic woman?
Big Brudda Vin, I keep clicking away buddy!http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/happy.gif
Scoop, do not drive until the doc says it is OK. 95% of the time it will feel great. But in a panic situation where someone ran a red light or blew a stop sign, imagine the pressure and torque you would put on that knee when you slam on the brakes! Time will go quick.
09-03-2009, 11:21 AM
Scoop if you rent a two up sled i'll drive you around this winter! lol Sounds like alot of you guys will be out of commission for sledding season.
Thought i was gonna be one when I had a fight with the weed wacker last week. Pretty sure I just pulled something in my wrist. Heard it pop twice, would be nice if the damn thing would start in less than 30 pulls!! lol

Skylar whatchadoin to your sled???
Skylar, what are you doing to the sled this time. New bulkhead? You buy one from Fabcraft or another aftermarket manufacture. Sounds like a lot of FUN work.
09-03-2009, 06:52 PM
HEY ALL! It's Thursday already! Wow... this week is zooming by! Kids start school Tuesday of next week! Both school moved their start times up by about 45 mins... the kids are cranky about it, I just say "early to rise, early to bed!"
Scoopy - Surgery... damn... that sucks! Do you have someone who will be able to help you out those first few weeks? I wish I lived closer!! TAKE CARE and take it easy, let it HEAL properly before you go start abusing it again! Then should be good as new.
Skylar - it's ALWAYS your fault... don't you know that? I was just informed that my boys are officially taller than I am. It's NUTS!
So what are you doing with your sled? Let's see some pictures when you are done... better hurry - it might actually snow this year!
I started my next class this week. It's Principles of Management class. First class proved that the next 8 weeks will be FUN but challenging.
EVERYONE - have a wonderful SAFE Labor Day weekend!!! I'm gonna be home with the kids doing all kinds of house cleaning and prepping for BACK TO SCHOOL!

Toward the end of the first year that I had my RMK, I landed off camber on a jump, and landed on a rock. I landed on the rock right under where my left foot is on the running boards, right below the front torque arm mounting point, and kind of buckled the tunnel a bit. It was still ride able, so that is what I did, rode it! But just before we were heading out to Tog last March I noticed the tunnel was cracking where it had kinked. So, I drilled a hole at the top hoping to delay/stop the crack, but that didn't work, so after the last ride in April the crack had made it all the way to the mounting bolts. So I will be putting a new tunnel/bulkhead on it. It will be a stock set up. Mostly because they don't offer the tunnel/bulkhead as a separate unit. A Van Amburg boondocker tunnel was what I wanted, but I really didn't want to drill out the rivets to separate the tunnel from the bulkhead. Screw that!
There will be other changes also, I will post pics as I go. Just found out today that I will be laid off for next week, so it looks like I will have the time to do it next week! YAAHOOO!

Happy Friday! It is supposed to be a beautiful long weekend. I have a lot that needs to get done this weekend before I am laid up with this surgery, but hopefully I will find some time for a little fun too.
1000 - I will try hard to not drive until the doc says, but I hate inconveniencing others that will get stuck driving me around. I have to go to physical therapy 2-3 times a week which means I will be pulling people out of work to drive me. I was told I can't drive for 3 weeks for the very reasons you stated. Yuck!
Julie - I have to rely on the people from work to drive me everywhere. My sister is supposed to drive up for the weekend after the surgery. Other than that, I'm on my own!
K-Boo - No offense, but if I healed enough to ride this winter, I'm riding my own sled! I'm was done with the two-up stuff 20 years ago!
Bradzoo - I had that attitude with my knee, but I finally realized I needed to have something done. The thing is, I abused it so long that I made it worse. Just be careful.
BigVin - I try to click on your songs when I remember, but lately this surgery preparation has been taking a lot of time. Just think, I will have all day, every day to click after next week. Thank heaven for wireless internet at home!
I need to get back to work. I have a lot to do before next week.
09-04-2009, 12:48 PM
Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have a great Holiday! I am planning a BBQ at my house for Sunday but other than that just a lot of relaxing I hope.
Scoop - good luck with the surgery. I promised my wife I would get mine done this year but seems like there is always something delaying it. Can't you get a therapist to come to your house? That might work out better.
Hope everyone is doing well! Take care!
09-07-2009, 04:00 PM
Scoop - GOOD LUCK with your surgery this week! When you feel up to it, give me a call so I know how you are doing.
Hopefully y'all are having a good day off work! Dylan and I are cleaning the house, putting new school clothes away and doing lots of laundry.
He is excited about school starting - I think he's really looking forward to it. When we were completing the paperwork, there was a question asking what his goal for the school year was. Dylan's goal is to get really good grades and keep them up so he can get a job at Davanni's Pizza so he can buy Lego's anytime he wants! TOO CUTE!
Dustin's teacher this year is one of the best teachers for the 5th grade. This should help Dustin keep on track and apply himself. He really needs to bring his grades up. Middle school is when sports start.. no grades, no sports. He wants to play football - so he needs the grades.
Better get back to work, Dylan sees me take a break and he's off to Lego Land!!!

Anyone into fishing, canoe or fishing trips and renting a cabin must check out Timber Trail Lodge in Ely, MN. www.timebertrail.com (http://www.timebertrail.com)
Great location on chain of 4 lakes with BWCA access off of one of the lakes. Incredible rates for the cabins they have. I have been to a ton of places and I haven't seen a place since I was a young kid where all the employees/owners are so genuine and pleasant. We were so impressed that we booked a cabin for next year when we left. Also, very pet friendly in almost all the cabins as well.
Hope everyone had a great weekend! I haven't had a nice relaxing weekend like this in what seems like years.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANNERS! I hope it's a good one!
Well, I survived surgery and it went well. Getting around at home was another story. As soon as I got home, I really needed to go to the bathroom, so it was the first place I headed for. Well, in the bathroom, my crutches, the nerve block in my leg and the tight quarters didn't get along too well because I fell. I didn't feel a thing because of the nerve block, but the knee I just had surgery on bent pretty far. I thought I ripped out all the stitches because I found out later that night that I was bleeding under the knee wrap. I had a follow-up appointment the next day. I did not rip out any of the stitches, they were bleeding from the incision area for some reason. The doctor didn't think I damaged any of the repaired parts in my knee, so I should be o.k. I have since been to two physical therapy appointments. Darn, those hurt like crap! Needless to say, my knee does not like being bent nor straightened, but I suffer through it. The other weird thing is that I am napping constantly. I don't know if it is from the pain pills or boredom (or both), but I will start out watching TV or reading a book and pow! I am out like a light. I can't keep my leg down in a normal sitting position long because it starts to swell, but that and the pain gets a little better each day. I have to do PT exercises every two to three hours and sometimes my leg is killing me after them (that's what the pain pills are for). Other than that, I am doing fine. I think it is time to try and read or watch TV (translated as time for another nap!). Later....

Happy Birthday Nancy, enjoy!!

So, the last few days have been a rollercoaster, but then yesterday it came to a halt... I was in the running for a job. Between me and one other person - YES! I actually got a real live face to face interview - but I didn't get the job. The other person won out due to a little bit more experience.

This thread has been going on for several years now. I believe it started back in late 2005. It was a result of this thread that I met Brad, Squat, and Paul in Paradise Michigan in February of 2006 and then we all got together again with Suzy and her crew in March of 2006 in Houghton MI.
It's been so much fun!!

Hey Peeps, went to the shoulder Doc today, the news is bad had my MRI with dye last week, got the results today, rotator cuff is torn more that 3/4 of the way through, its gonna take surgery to repair, don't when that is gonna happen as work comp is involved, I would like to wait until spring but I don't think they are gonna let me go that long, if I can't then sleddin will be cancelled for me this season. I'm bummin.

Bradzoo - Ouch! Sorry to hear about the shoulder. That would suck to miss riding this season, but that tear sounds pretty bad. Maybe it would be better to just get it fixed and over with.
Tomorrow my stitches come out. I was lucky that it has been warm out and I could wear shorts the whole time the stitches have been in. If I had to wear pants it would have been a real pain. Either the ace wrap would have been hard to deal with or if I didn't wear the wrap the stitches would catch on the fabric of the pants and would have hurt.
Tomorrow is also back to work day. I am going stir crazy sitting at home, but I'm not sure I'm crazy about going back to work right now either. I'm not sure how my knee is going to hold up because it will be hard to elevate it at work and if I don't elevate the leg, it starts to hurt after a while. We'll see how that goes.
Time to get some sleep. I actually have to get up early tomorrow.

Brotha Bradzooooo: YIKES! 3/4 of the way torn? Man, that's gotta hurt! Snowmobiling will always be there, take care of your situation first. Ouch. Keep us posted.
Scoop: Glad it is healing. I can show up at work for ya! (you can elevate your leg on my lap) WHOA! I had a Squat moment there! http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/proud.gif Seriously though, . . . . Godspeed with the recovery girl!
I am going to put my application and resume in a couple of REAL CRAPPY factories today. I know I can't compete with 23 year olds in a yucky environment, but I will have to try. Just aren't many if any jobs out there at all.
So foggy here this morning, I couldn't even see the end of my driveway. YIKES!

Job searching SUCKS! Over the last couple of weeks I've had a few interviews - which is way better than how i was doing last month. The last one was yesterday - it was incredible! It's a great job and I would be perfect for it. I just now have to wait and be patient while they finish up with their interviews and make their decision. I'm one of three. I need to be their #1 and I NEED TO GET THIS JOB!
Last week I had a great interview was SURE I had the job, but I came in 2nd. GRRRRRRR I was devistated... I can't handle another disappointment like that. Coming in 2nd doesn't do me a bit of good... so I need to be #1 for this current job opportunity.
Have a great day today!
