Report: Favre to sign with Vikings today
Madison.com sports — 8/18/2009 10:17 am

Brett Favre will sign with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday, according to a report from a Minneapolis television station.

Citing a "high-level source" within the organization, WCCO-TV reported that Favre -- who rebuffed the Vikings on the eve of training camp -- is flying to Minneapolis this morning and will join the team this afternoon.

A plane with a Vikings logo took off from the airport at Hattiesburg, Miss., this morning, according to WCCO.

You just love torturing us!!

08-18-2009, 11:40 AM
OBVIOUSLY he just didn't want to go to camp. Plain and simple. What else will he not want to do?

Anyone wanna bet? He won't make the season healthy.

08-18-2009, 12:47 PM
why us (people from MN)?

I am going to have to ask the wife if we can move to WI just so we don't have him on "our team"!

but I agree with xcr440.......and my response is, if you can't practice with the team you should not be playing with the team!

08-18-2009, 01:07 PM
He landed at St Paul Holman Field at 11:30 am with Childress there to meet him. On way to Winter Park in Eden Prairie, with extra cops there for security. For better or worse, the result is as expected. He successfully avoided training camp!

08-18-2009, 01:10 PM
I really hope none of this is true. I've always been a huge #4 fan bu I'm starting to think he's lost his mind and turning into more of a drama queen rather than a guy that still has passion for the game. If he does sign with them I hope the Packer fans give him a warm welcome back in GB then spank him on the field!

08-18-2009, 01:20 PM
Go Vikes! LMAO

08-18-2009, 01:27 PM
This could be fun!!!... I now have to change my manly onsamble from Vikings to half-n-half jerseys! Anybody looking for a new biz venture? Could make some good money now.

08-18-2009, 01:42 PM
Hey Chad, that spanking part....how about on his "new" home turf at Home. Living here in Green Bay, not to many people like to hear the words "Brett Farve" in any sentence. I think he should have left gracefully instead of trying to get back at the pack. JUST MOVE ON!••••

08-18-2009, 02:24 PM
The good news for me is my tickets for that game just increased 10 times in value. More money for snowmobiling this winter. Thanks Brent or whatever your name is.

08-18-2009, 02:28 PM
Favre is God

08-18-2009, 02:43 PM
Hey trebsdub, look me up come winter, I'm in Point as well, (Amherst Jct.) always looking for someone to go sledding with.

08-18-2009, 02:54 PM
Jets gave him an opportunity to hang it up and retire as a Packer. He is letting a lot of people down and losing respect.

Packer's 3rd string QB should wear #4!

08-18-2009, 02:56 PM
By the time he really retires and hang it up, his kids will be out of scrool and his boat leaving the harbour!!

08-18-2009, 03:17 PM
well I for one am happy to see him come to MN. The two Q-backs we have dont look good at all.

this might be a GREAT thing for vike fans

I think he has goal in mind and something tells me it has to do with cheese....mmmmm I cant wait for this ride to start-----

WELCOME BRETT

08-18-2009, 03:49 PM
I just heard on radio that he suited up to take the field to practice, but changed his mind and is now on a plane back home

08-18-2009, 04:04 PM

08-18-2009, 04:10 PM
I saw with my own eyes. He is wearing a purple helmet and no 4 practice jersey. It is all over the tv right now. I would think it is "offical" now!! Superbowl bound??

08-18-2009, 04:13 PM
The two QB's we have SINK! Welcome Brett - The team needs help.
He's on the practice field right now taking some snaps.

08-18-2009, 04:20 PM
I want to know what is happening with the parrot.

08-18-2009, 04:41 PM
If all the Pro Bowlers can stay healthy and they leave Chilly in the locker room during games they could be awesome. But remember, they are the Vikings. They will find a way to screw up.

08-18-2009, 05:04 PM
OH JEEZ havnt we heard enough of this yet?

08-18-2009, 05:05 PM
I think it's great!! he's allways been great for throwing the ball to the other team !

08-18-2009, 06:11 PM
This is exactly what the Vikings needed: a veteran QB to throw play action passes, screens, and a few accurate deep balls, to complement the most devastating RB in the game. It will still be a ball control, running first team. But Rosenfels and Jackson scared no opposing defenses, and a little mystique and leftover talent will help immensely. If Favre throws more than 25 times a game, the game plan wasn't right from the outset. When the Broncos went to the Super Bowl back to back in the late 90's, Elway threw for 2200 yards, but threw 22 touchdowns. He doesn't need to carry this team, but the QB can't hinder the team, like we have seen from the Tarvaris Jackson era.

08-18-2009, 06:21 PM
Right on Jroz. I feel the same way. I still have my f farve shirt though. It is tough to fight back all the hatred for a cheese head... I know now that he is after his old team which should mean he will try hard to succeed. I just can't wait to see AP running the ball without the d line stacked because we had 0 throwing threat. Can't wait for this season.

08-18-2009, 06:29 PM
I am a Packer fan first, Favre fan second. My take on the whole thing is this. Does he want to "get back" at the Packers? Probably. But I see it as a man who truly loves playing the game, and is having a hard time accepting the fact that he is getting too old for the game, and is trying to keep it going as long as possible.

I know the day is coming when I look at my sled, and realize I am too old to go boondocking, and I have to trail ride again. That day is going to suck, but, I am going to keep it going as long as physically possible! LOL.

08-18-2009, 07:30 PM
I did like when he said it's his legacy and nobody elses. If anyone doesn't like it - don't watch.

Imo Because the Pack was done with him doesn't mean he had it end there. Really don't understand the cheesehead anger.

Just glad I haven't sold any of my tickets yet !!!

08-18-2009, 07:36 PM
I saw a shirt the other week that made me laugh
Number 4 we will never forget you BRENT
Too funny

08-18-2009, 09:31 PM
If the guy thinks he can play, and has the support of a team that's willing to give him that shot, more power to him.

Like mentioned above, are you gonna quit trail riding or boondockin cause someone tells ya your to old, or can't hang with the big dogs anymore?

08-18-2009, 09:43 PM
SKOL vikings SKOL

08-18-2009, 10:07 PM
I am guessing part of the reason he also came back was the $12,000,000.00.

Does he need the money NO, can you ever have too much NO!

08-18-2009, 10:39 PM
I am going on fri to check hi out I am sure thay will olny play him for a few plays but hay I guss it is worth the 25 bucks to park 50 bucks in beer and dogs and 200 in tix and I am sure the war dept will want a new farv jersy prob 75.wate am I crazy 350 to watch the vikes get spanked that is a new klim parka yeah I am crazy.

08-18-2009, 10:43 PM
Superbowl HomeBoy's

08-19-2009, 10:09 AM
Vikings will remain one of the biggest jokes of the NFL until they fire coach kick •••. Brent will take care of that unfortunately this yr like he did the Jets coach last yr. Vikings are paper champs every yr.. Favre will be lucky to make it to the Nov 1st game at Lambeau. The Ole Man was sacked 30 times last yr and the Jets had a good running game. The Williams Sisters might be able to skate the MN system but soon enough they will get their 4 game suspension.. Hold the Super Bowl Parade Plans if possible, Rubes.

08-19-2009, 10:16 AM
Too many sacks and interceptions-----the Jets front line couldn't give him protection----but when Brett heard the William bros are healthy and back, he no doubt said to himself "close to a 700# wall, maybe I'll have the chance to get the plays off"-----he loves the sport--nobody can say he doesn't. Go Vikes

08-19-2009, 10:40 AM
So let me get this straight...the vikqueen's are placing all their eggs in the basket of a 40 year old, who refuses to go to training camp, had surgery on his throwing arm, faded at the end of last year & will cause a media frenzy, all the while Brad Childress is their coach?? Too Funny! I'll stick with the 25 year old up and comer in A. Rodgers!

08-19-2009, 10:41 AM
CYGUY, Yup, thats right.

Next years pick is Fran Tarkington.

Then after that, we will get our stadium.

08-19-2009, 10:54 AM

I just hope he doesn't lead the league in his favorite category again this year, INT's!!!

08-19-2009, 11:34 AM
He shouldn't lead the league in INT's this season with the William wall back. At least one would think.

Correct - Tarkenton

08-19-2009, 11:58 AM
Williams Sisters play defense.... McKinnie and Hutchinson are nice on the left side of the line but the right side is questionable.

08-19-2009, 12:03 PM
But will Farv fade out like Tarkingtun? They are both old and weathered. But I guess I would play for a 12 mill dollar 1 yr contract. You could buy on kick but fishing boat with that kaching.

Turns out that Brett Favre has something in common with his fans. My opinions are wasted on all of them. So let's hear from the man himself, the World According to Favre:
March 2, 2001, after signing a contract that made him the NFL's first $100 million player: "I do want to be a Packer for life ... I couldn't envision myself playing with another team ... If that was to ever come up, I would probably just retire."
November The world according to Favre
7, 2003: "I don't know if it's going to be this year, next year. I mean, I still think there's a lot left out there for us and a lot left out there for me."
March 31, 2006, Biloxi Sun-Herald: "If I do play this year, it will be my last. There's no doubt about that."
May 6, 2006: "I know I said that. But I hope you guys will respect me. I'm going to play this year, give it my best and not talk about it."
September 6, 2006, in response to a question by Bob Costas, he says he's "99.9 percent" sure ••••• retire as a Green Bay Packer.
December 31, 2006, interviewed by NBC's Andrea Kremer after Green Bay's 26-7 win over the Bears at Soldier Field: "If today is my last game, I want to remember it. It's tough ... tough. I'll miss these guys, and I'll miss the game ..."
February 3, 2007, quoted by Packers GM Ted Thompson in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: "I think I'll go one more time."
May 14, 2007: "... I don't want to be traded. I want to finish my career as a Packer."
January 10, 2008, in the Biloxi Sun-Herald, three days before a playoff game against Seattle: "For the first time in three years, I haven't thought this could be my last game. I would like to continue longer."
January 21, 2008: "I'm not going to rush to make a big decision, but it will probably be quicker than it's been in the past."
March 6, 2008: "It's been a great career for me, but it's over ... I don't think I've got anything left to give."
April 3, 2008, asked about Favre coming back, his agent, Bus Cook, tells the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer: "That's news to me. I don't think that has anything to do with anything. He's retired, period, point blank."
April 10, 2008, Biloxi Sun-Herald: "I very well could be enticed."
April 25, 2008, before a luncheon honoring his image on the cover of Madden '09: "First of all, I'm not going to keep myself in shape ... There were always second thoughts •••••• wasn't ever a clear-cut decision."
July 14, 2008, interviewed by Fox's Greta Van Susteren, Favre says he was "never fully committed" to retiring: "If I play, it's going to be 100 percent commitment."
August 8, 2008: "I'm here for one reason ... I'm here to help the Jets win."
February 12, 2009: "It's been a wonderful career, I couldn't ask for anything more. It was worth a shot for me to go to New York. I wish I could've played better down the stretch. I didn't.
"It's time to leave."
June 15, 2009, asked by Joe Buck about the Vikings (after his wife had made a deposit on a condo in Minnesota)••••• makes a lot of sense because the pieces are in place."
July 29, 2009: "I didn't feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable. I would like to thank everyone, including the Packers, Jets and Vikings, but, most importantly, the fans."
August 18, 2009, asked about wearing a Vikings helmet: "It was different. I'm not going to lie to you."

08-19-2009, 02:11 PM
I just dont understand why all the packer fans feel betrayed? Do you really think Brett Farve honestly gives a crap about the packers? or greenbay or the people of Wi. Absolulty not! and nor should he! He doesnt owe WI a thing and at the end of the day this is a business like anything else. Sure Im loyal to any company that has me on the payroll but guess what? Once out of contract im loyal to the next one that needs my services. People of green bay and most of WI seem to think that Brett farve should just quit, move to a cabin somwhere in Wi and curl up an die and be burried with one of those cheese hats and just ignore the fact that he could make another 12 million for one more season. I do think it will be funny if it turns out to be a huge mistake and he just tanks, but who the heck cares. His choice (i bet you would make a bigger ••• of yourself for half that kind of money) The press conference yesterday pretty much summed it up when he said, dont watch if you dont like it, and my legacy is my legacy. Translation- "i dont really give a crap what you people think, Im better than the QB's minnesota has and im gonna see if I can help this team out, have a little fun playin some ball. all the while putiin a little coin in my familys pocket. Does he need any more money, NO. Can a person ever have to much? NO Im sure when I retire at 39 i might have second thoughts also.

At least there is a reason to watch the vikes now.

08-19-2009, 02:19 PM

I think they did this to keep up the attendance. No black-outs look much better while you push for a new stadium. No?

So maybe 12 mil is a good investment for a yes vote on the stadium deal.

People where going ape crazy thinking that this year we would have all these non-televised blackouts.

08-19-2009, 02:42 PM
kevsip, I heard TPAW (governor) say on tv last night that this does change the stadium situation. (so he is clearly not gonna buy into all the farve hype. But farve does create kind of an economic wave to the state just by being here. Its great for downtown and the bars on game day thats for sure

08-19-2009, 02:56 PM
Ols, TPAW has not quite fell into his Progressive Transition yet. But I am sure the next Gov will. This could get VERY interesting here in the T.C. in the next 2 years.

There could be a stadium at our expence.

But yes, I believe Brent Farv will bring more eco-bucks here, no doubt.

We are even watching the attendance at the parking ramps here in T.C.

08-19-2009, 02:59 PM
Butt Fart could give a crap about anyone's opinion but his own. Good for him.

I for one don't think he will make any better QB at this point in his career than Sage would have this year. (No, TJoke was not going to do it).

With that said, I'm still a Viking fan, and I hope I'm wrong and the TEAM can go to the promise land, but I just don't see Butt Fart making the season without getting INJURED.

08-19-2009, 03:12 PM
Althought I am over the shock of Bratt Ferv, it would be cool to go to the lands of promise, so maybe I should book some hotel rooms in Myame. If they fail, I could go there any ways and go fishing!! I hear wahoo like cheese!

08-19-2009, 03:32 PM
what is this promise land you speak of?

08-19-2009, 03:36 PM
Is it warm in January there? If so I promise I won't go to this land...

Is it snowing yet??? At least Haydays is just around the corner...

08-19-2009, 03:46 PM
Yes, Haydays IS around the corner. For some, that is the start of the path that leads to the promise land!

08-19-2009, 03:51 PM
foolish me I thought it had something to do with a football game!!DOH isnt the UP the promise land?

08-19-2009, 05:12 PM
Weren't the Vikqueen's headed to the same promised land back in 1998, when Anderson missed that field goal? Miami is a jinx, Farve is a jinx, and your NO championship football team is a joke.

08-19-2009, 05:48 PM
haha. Nice one Rusty!

08-19-2009, 06:13 PM
Vikings are moving to des moines for their new stadium? Better than California.

08-19-2009, 06:21 PM
lets hope not....

08-19-2009, 07:44 PM
Total posted on ESPN around noon was over 3000 season tickets sold and over 10,000 single game tickets since he signed. Pretty impressive for one day imo.

08-19-2009, 08:30 PM
Wish tickets like that were available at Lambeau.. But that's just one of the the differences and price you pay being one of, if not the best franchise in the NFL @ the Joke the Vikings have become.

08-19-2009, 10:03 PM
ONLY A TRUE PACKER FAN CAN UNDERSTAND BRETT !! 3 time MVP, Shoe- in Hall of Famer! If people could only see how many times his contract was restructured to try to keep the team together in these days of free agency and salary caps!He wants to win another SUPER BOWL and Ted wants to sell Hot Dogs and BEER! Vikings owner is a very smart business man and should be comended.Brett has already made team millions without playing a game and will set a new record everytime he steps on the field or retires again lol!!

08-19-2009, 10:10 PM
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Maybe Brett Favre(notes) lost the keenest segment of the Green Bay Packers fan base long ago. Maybe he lost them when every summer began to orbit around him, and every roster decision was applauded or disparaged based on how it impacted No. 4. Maybe he lost them in one tumultuous offseason after another, when his emotional whims became reason enough to hold the franchise hostage.

Or maybe he really, truly lost them on Tuesday, when he signed with the hated Minnesota Vikings, and then in Favre fashion, said “If you’re a true Packer fan, you understand.”

That was the line that still had fans fuming as they filed out of Stadium View Sports Bar in Green Bay, aptly named for its view of Lambeau Field down Armed Forces Drive. Some fans that had flocked for the Packers’ evening practice on Tuesday piled into the bar to watch Favre’s news conference. And ultimately they had a resounding opinion as they filed back out: Favre’s iconic legacy in this city has hit a new low.

08-19-2009, 10:35 PM
Hunter I think greeen bay tix are harder to come buy not because the team is better. but because thear is nothing better to do in green bay. come on how many times can you eat cheese curds and tour the harly plant?the last time we had a old washed up QB we almost made the big show untill the wild card dirty birds out coached green

08-19-2009, 10:52 PM
Yaaaaa.... skip a Vikings game on Sunday because there is so many plays and concerts for men to go attend on a Sunday morning in MN Eh!

"GO PACK GO"

You guys know why Iowa doesn't have a professional football team? Because then Minnesota would want one too! http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/happy.gif

Your team is THE laughing stock!

08-20-2009, 11:26 AM
Yes cyguy, but we ARE laughing. A good chuck one needs.

08-20-2009, 12:09 PM
Still LMAO...

Brett Favre landing with the Minnesota Vikings this week was fodder for David Letterman's most recent Top 10 list.

The host of CBS-TV's "Late Show" had sport with Favre with his list Wednesday night and seemed to display some local knowledge with a couple of the reasons (see Nos. 6 and 2).

Now, with that signature drum roll, here are the "Top 10 reasons Brett Favre came out of retirement":

10 - Blew his savings on a two-day taco binge.

9 - No reason to stay home every day now that "Guiding Light" has been canceled.

8 - Worried Obama's death panels might try to take him out.

7 - In this economy, someone offers you a job, you grab it.

6 - Wants to raise and then dash hopes of another city's fans.

5 - Couldn't' take another trip to Pottery Barn with his wife.

4 - Lured by a lucrative contract and free jar of Icy Hot.

3 - Concussions made me krazy!

2 - Who could resist chance to spend glorious winter in Minnesota?

1 - Oh, oh, wait. He just retired again.

brett who????

08-20-2009, 01:47 PM

08-20-2009, 05:24 PM
You cheese heads threw him out so he is free to play where ever he is wanted. Get over it and cheer for Mr. Rogers and see if he can win a game in the final minutes.

This could be a fun season since T-jack is not in the mix anymore.

08-20-2009, 07:22 PM
looks like old Brett sold some tix for us..

I believe Kare11 just reported Fri night pre-season game is SOLD-OUT

oh ya 4000 season seats have been sold this week alone

08-20-2009, 07:56 PM
I cant believe the Vikings fans think Favre is bringing you to the promised land. See how that frayed ol' rotator cuff is doing about 6 games into the season!

08-21-2009, 01:34 PM
Whether or not the Vikings get a championship with Favre on the team is pointless. This is purely and solely a business transaction for the Wilf's. Look at the money they will make off of this deal. The media is going wild, tickets are selling like hotcakes, and I gauruntee most everyone that is a fan of the NFL is going to watch at least one of his games this year. I am not a fan of Favre, but thanks Brett for bringing all this money to our state. Mn is going to make big bucks off of him!

08-21-2009, 01:46 PM
MAJ16, your absolutely right. Hopefully if he is as successfull bringing in money, media, and tickets, then I say after a stint with the Vikings he should run for Governor of MN after his 1 yr contract is up. Our state could really go "GREEN".

08-21-2009, 01:58 PM
That is the obvious. Nothing in professional sports is NOT a business transaction.

With that said, winning will bring in more than any one person signing, even BF. People seem think he is the one thing we need. If they don't win this year, those 3000 season tickets sold the first day DO NOT get renewed for next year. Guess we'll see if that translates in the next 5 months if this was a one year business deal, or a real push to WIN.

08-21-2009, 03:33 PM
I thought I read today that they figure he has already generated enough money to cover Half his first year salary. (and it only took 3 days)

08-21-2009, 03:48 PM
That would make sense. Farv for Prez! He can fix this economy!!

But we will work on a super bowl ring first.

08-24-2009, 04:28 PM

I'm going to retire, no I'm not, yes I am, Oh I just don't know what I want. Oh I feel just like crying! I wouldn’t do this, but those mean old guys at the Packers hurt my feelings. Whahhhhhhhh. I gotta go now bye, bye.

Your BFF Sissy.

09-27-2009, 05:37 PM
The last three games were the best I've ever watched----Brett truly loves the game----dangerous to the last seconds----the 49er's thought they had this one in the bag----I did too. Go Vikings

09-27-2009, 06:39 PM
suck it hard green bay

09-28-2009, 12:14 AM
Thank you Green Bay Packers! Field goals and touchdowns.

Next Monday night will be fun to watch whoever wins. Hope #4 wins it with his worn out arm and 40 year old body!

09-28-2009, 06:52 AM
GO BRENT FARV!! He pulled it off! Excellent game!

09-28-2009, 09:37 AM
I'm a Bear fan living in Wisconsin...have always liked Brett Farve though...but you know what I like even more...hearing all the Wisconsinites whining about Brett Farve.

Over the years since I've lived here, I've never seen fans turn on players, coaches or a team as quickly as they do in WI.

09-28-2009, 09:51 AM
I was there in my seat, best Viking game I've seen in the Dome. Can bearly talk this morning.

Brett stays calm and dangerous until the end.

09-28-2009, 12:20 PM
jpsted -

yeah that's why Lambeau has been sold out for 100 years and will be for another hundred after that??
As a Packer fan I can honestly say yesterday was bitter sweet. Happy for 4 but hate the vikequeen's. I do get a kick out of how the vikequeen fans are now cheering for # 4.

12 Championships = G.B.
0 Championships = mn

09-28-2009, 01:08 PM
See this is the problem with Favre, once again he took the spotlight away from someone who deserves it more than him. It was a better catch than it was a throw. Anyone can hurl the ball like that.Just because it came out of Bret's hand it was the greatest throw ever!!Not one of you viking fans have even metioned how awesome of a catch it was!!! Keep Favre good luck with him finishing the season!!

09-28-2009, 01:33 PM
tdq600, Not anyone(at least any qb we've had) could have managed the last 60 seconds of the game and stay calm like farve did. Not anyone could have made that throw. Im not sure which media outlets you are watchin but I think lewis is gettin serious praise for the awesome catch. Even farve himself said the throw was nothing special but the catch was. When you go so long as a fan watching QB's that cant throw anything but an interception in the last 2 minutes of a game we get kind of excited when for once they DONT actually blow it at the end. It was an awesome catch do doubt! but imo the end of that game would have been much different if TJack would have been at the helm.

09-28-2009, 01:35 PM
I am a life long Packer fan, but I just cant get over the favre packer saga. I dont care what everybody says about favre not making his mind up about what he is or was gonna do, I think the pack forced him out cuz Rodgers would have went elsewhere in 2010. I am really happy for brett right now being 3-0, and I will be even happier when he beats Ted and Mike next Monday night and on Nov.1st when he beats them again. Then it will be bye bye for the Ted and Mike show at the end of the season!

09-28-2009, 01:57 PM
Actually, the Vikings were NFL champions in 1969. (lost to KC in the SuperBowl) At that time the AFL was a different league so the Vikings were considered NFL champions for what it is worth.

09-28-2009, 06:04 PM
olsmann, I do not follow the vikings so I dont know about your past Qb's. I wasnt referring to any particular media outlet, I was referring to this post. Your right I should have been more specific, any "decent" Qb could have made that throw.
2000sxr700 How can you call yourself a life long Packer fan when you want your team to lose because of 1 person?? It sounds to me like you are a Brett Favre fan NOT a GreenBay Packer fan!!! I dont care for Ted or Mike either but I still want the Pack to win!!

09-29-2009, 10:55 AM
tdq600, I truly am a Packer fan and a brett fan! I am ticked about how that whole thing went down. Regardless of all the things favre has said about retiring and coming back,Dont you think the main office was putting the squeeze on him to retire cuz of rodgers and the packers future. All I know is there is always two sides to a story and it is not all favres fault. The man loves to play and the pack should have let him come back. And now I cant wait for him to not to beat the pack, but to beat Ted and Mike.It will all come out in the wash long after he retires!

09-29-2009, 11:11 AM
Farve made a comment in the interview yesterday....

He didn't think his pass was all that special. But the catch was something.

I'm bringing boxes of tissues to the game for the Packer fans on Monday.

09-29-2009, 01:18 PM
I LOVE this thread. It is better than the comics! Gotta love the football fan. That REALLY is what it is all about, isn't it?

Since everyone is nailing everyone else to the wall, I may as well throw my unwanted 2 cents worth into the sink, . . . . .

I LOVE football. Pee-Wee, Middle School, Junior High, High School, College, Semi-Pro, Pro, . . . . . Awesome TEAM sport. But just like anything else, It has it's Politics. From "Hey Coach, You azzwipe!, Why don't you play MY kid, all the way to It's the General Managers fault.

I am a Packers Fan. I am also a NFC NORTH Fan. If the Pack don't make the play-offs, I root for the "other" team that made it from the Division. No Big Deal. It's exciting, and the Cold Beer and munchies go down just as good.

It's ENTERTAINMENT.

I "stayed" after a game one Monday Night, when the Packers got Blown Out by the Titans. They were NEVER in the game. Totally bit. I went down and saw all the Ridiculous fans dressed head to-toe in everything from cheesehead hats, earings, painted faces, pajama's ect. They were waiting for the players to come out in their cars, to go home. You would swear some of the fans would sacrifice their own children for some of these dudes. And when they left, They couldn't have cared Less, about the idots shouting "I LOVE YOU", ect., . . . . UGH!

To each his own. Remember who the Back-up to Brett Favre was when they beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl? Yep, . . . . The "once hated" Jim McMahon. Won a ring with the Bears, AND the Packers. (Small World).

When I "used" to have a job (and good money) I was able to see A LOT of pro football games. Living in Florida, and also on the East Coast. Fans are pretty much the same everywhere. Good and Bad.

Hey, It's like snowmobiling. You see people get all bent out of shape, Just because the name brand of the sled someone else rides. Hey, we're all in it for the sport, right?

My take: I would like to Thank Ron Wolf, for taking the chance on someone he thought was great raw talent. Jerry Glanville thought Favre was a free-wheeling, wild, Redneck. So he comes to Green Bay, and Mike Holmgren MOLDS him. By seeing the talent he had, Holmgren was like a Dad to him, and had to have a TON of patience to put up with his "gunslinging" way he went about playing. But Thru the Good and the Bad, Packers Fans WORLDWIDE, and True football fans everywhere HAD to appreciate what he brought to the table. (good or bad).

Now, as time went on. So does change. Brett had Mike SHERMAN by the Knads. Sherman Let Favre Run the show. That is just ONE of the reasons Sherman was Axed. Hey, Ron Wolf RETIRED, Mike Holmgren LEFT, It is A BUSINESS. I watched as Favre Held the Packers holding their breath for YEARS, waddling on "could this be the last year or NOT" ? So, after the Last 3 years, They HAD to Make a move. YES, it went down crappy. And YES, of course they had to keep Rodgers from leaving. Heck, It was there future. Why didn't Brett just say: "Hey, As long as I can play, I will". Nope. Waddling, and drama.

ENOUGH! It is a business. I am glad he looks like he still has the fire. But I want the Packers to WIN. I find it very ironic Vikings fans, that so many of YOU HATED Favre, and now he may be your SAVIOR. Small, Small world.

For any fan to blame Thompson and McCarthy, Get a LIFE. The Packers are the YOUNGEST team in the league, and are VERY competitive. If all the Vikings needed was Brett to actually give them a CHANCE to FINALLY get a ring, so be it. Just remember though, this is ONLY going to be the 4th game of the year. It is a L O N G year! and also don't forget (the youngest NFL team) was 13-3 just a couple years back, when I saw #4 yell out "Blue 42! Blu 42! HUT HUT!" on second down, on HIS audible, Roll out to the Right on Second down, and throw it RIGHT to the defender. That still hurts.

So, I suppose I will get bashed also, but as Chris Berman say's "C'mon Man!" To all my Detroit, Chicago, and yes Minnesota FRIENDS, I hope your teams give you moments to make you proud. May the best "Business" win!

oh ya, wait until the salary cap situation goes un-resolved, and there will be a year with NO football in the not-to-distant future, Then we can argue 'bout something else.

Put a fork in me, I'm Outta Here!

09-30-2009, 08:42 PM
People really do step to a low level. Have some compasion.

Besides, her shirt is WAY to big on her. Needs to be 4 sizes smaller, and should be warn in colder weather. Besides, why is she EVEN there! She should be home cleaning toilets, and laundry.
What has this world come to..

09-30-2009, 10:52 PM

10-01-2009, 12:07 AM

10-01-2009, 03:44 PM
Blasphemy slickwilly,

We will yell even louder in the dome just for that!

10-02-2009, 04:08 PM
Okay, I almost even hate to open this can of worms...but who do you believe has the most pressure on them to win the game Monday night? Farve or Rogers?

I almost feel that Rogers has more to lose in this game than Farve and is under more pressure to win...curious to hear who others feel has more pressure to win this game?

Go Cutler!

10-02-2009, 04:32 PM
Oh come on slickwilly! Let's not be a sourpuss now. lol.

JP - Hard to say, but both QB's have center stage being that it's Monday night, so I'm sure their both looking to prove something. Should be a fun game to watch.

10-18-2009, 05:27 PM
well it was not pretty BUT 6-0 Ya Baby!!!

Can you Belive he missed that kick!!!

10-18-2009, 06:52 PM
Even if they would have lost it would not have been the fault of Favres. The defense "dropped the ball", huge. Sorry for the pun!!!!

10-18-2009, 08:21 PM
A win is a win. And I will take the win...Go cry in your cheese soup.
