OK. When you go into places like Gander Mountain there is a wall full of Buck Lures. I have never used this much but want to try this year along with rattling and grunt calls. Who has used a buck lure and which brand is for real?

There was a fellow who did a study on this and found that mostly this stuff was made up of doe urine. He found that you could also use ammonia and it worked just as well. I think a good jug of fermented cider will draw deer in, and is an excellent cover scent...and tho I am not much for the rattling, the grunt at the right time has put a few in the freezer. Out side of the rut, I don't have much confidence in any of this stuff. Everyone has opinions, tho and maybe I am wrong....

In my opinion, rattling only works when the buck to doe ratio is much closer and there is competition for breeding such. Here in michigan we just don't have the luxury, the buck to doe ration is way out of wack. In 24 years of hunting I have only seen bucks fighting twice. Grunts will put the freeze on some bucks and spook others in my expierence. I do set up scent lines with code blue doe estrous. It's kinda pricey, but I have had good luck with it, so spend the money for 1 bottle a year. I am hunting next to a bedding area and the bucks run the outskirts of it, so I set scent bottles coming in different lines, they do stop at them. I once used trails end 309 on a cotton ball and put it in a shrub next to a scape & hanging branch the deer were all using, the next morning the shrub was tore up, never seen the buck there, but it was surely letting me know this was his area. I would say for the most part it just makes them curious and if it makes them curious you may just have a chance.

Don't waste your money on Tink's 69. I have bought it in years past and had both bucks and does walk right past it and didn't even give it a look, or sniff. I haven't used the high rent stuff so I don't have an opinion about them.

Slayin, imagine, laying around waiting for the moment a doe comes into estrous, to "milk" some of that and put it into bottles to sell....no wonder the stuff is expensive....only can happen 3 or 4 times a year....sure hope they have lots of does to work on....wonder how the does feel about this???
Save your money....cause I am betting that they are cutting corners on this one...and just selling doe pee.

The best lure I have is to load up the pick up with 4 guys, 4 sleds, and enclosed trailer, wait for the road to get slick and they will run right out in front of ya all day long.
