Favre and AP combined for nearly 500 yards! Favre threw the one pass to Rice 64 yards in the air, but he can't go long anymore!? http://www.johndee.com/discuss/clipart/happy.gif We blew several chances though and this game should have been even more of a blowout

Haha. Funny how your pinning this all on Favre. Tonight's loss is a combination of both Offense and Defense. None of the Vikes starters looked like their heads were in it tonight. At the end of the day, we're 10-2 vs. 7-4! Catch us if you can!!

Sorry, Doospunk, but I have to agree with the other Cheeseheads! Mr. Favre may do better this year down the stretch than in the past, but he is 40 and has had surgery on his throwing arm. Plus, except for this year he has to play outside in the cold. So, he may get you through the season but your team will only be selling popcorn n beer at the Super Bowl. Sorry. Brett, it is time- go mow your damn lawn man.

Live by Favre and die by Favre. The Cards were getting pressure on him and when that happens your going to see some questionable passes. He still had a pretty decent game completion wise especially if you count the 2 passes compeleted to the Cards!

GO PACKERS!!!

Pit loses. Redskins cover the spread. NFC East suddenly tight. Miami ekes out a win. Vikes sleepwalk. Kind of makes a person wonder if NFL isn't fixed.

chad66
12-08-2009, 08:54 AM
The Vikes are a great team but I still think they need to worry a little bit. AP struggled a bit this year against a couple of teams but they were able to rely on Favre. But now that were hitting the final stretch do you really want to rely on a 40 year old arm that's been throwing more than they expected to this season? I'm a huge Favre fan and the guy is flat out amazing but you have to be worried about the season getting long for him. I think the Vikes would have been smarter to pound the ball more this season and keep Favre to his 20-30 passes a game then let him tear it up in the playoffs when everybody is playing run defense. I just have to think the Vikes might have tired the old man out a little and now may not be as strong as mid season. But like they say...that's why they play the games. I think there's going to be some great football played yet this year!

Both teams are in better shape than my Bengals....our starters are getting punked by the Jets right now and haven't really played well in a while. I think it's going to be a short playoff run.

In my opinion, the people of Wisconsin have a very large inferiority complex, when it comes to the state of Minnesota. The free agent signing of Brett Favre has brought out the core, unfiltered, unadulterated feelings of one state towards the other: Wisconsin hates Minnesota. Personally, I don't have a problem with that. All it took was a Hall of Fame QB to decide that he had a better chance with one team than the other, and the gloves came off. The Packers cast him aside, so he should retire...so they thought. Other than let him sign with MN last year, they trade him to the other conference with a bunch of penalty laden stipulations, so he can't be traded to MN. Yes, I believe he thinks the Vikings are a better team than the Packers, when he signed, and this very day. A big slap in the face to the state of Wisconsin? No, I don't think so. Ted and Mike couldn't control him, so they cut him loose. I think the Packer fans should be more about supporting a team that was absolutely dominated by the Vikings...TWICE, rather than dwelling on name calling, sheep ........, and the general low brow insecurity that follows this type of, and never been seen before, change within the division. For the record, your management and coaches thought he was through, and who are you to deny a man who is able to work, a chance to work? Would the people of Wisconsin rather see Brett Favre standing at the entrance of Lambeau as a greeter, much like retired heavyweights Joe Louis and Joe Frazier in Las Vegas? More than likely, this is a one year deal for #4. I have enjoyed about 95% of it, and it is most definitely the most captivating season for me in 10 years. Here we are, both teams are in the playoffs. It doesn't happen that often. Let's enjoy it, and the next person to say a disparaging word against the other team, be held in contempt. I am more than happy to let the Vikings to represent my state, without any malice toward anyone else. Rodgers, Favre, Peterson, Grant, Woodson, Driver, Longwell, Jennings, the Williams', Harvin, Rice, Matthews, Finley, Shiancoe, Allen...have all had great years, despite their coaches. Let THEM settle it from here on, and nobody gets to boast unless their team WINS the Super Bowl. Anyone who has a problem with this is...a POOPYHEAD!! LOL

Skylar
01-05-2010, 11:14 PM
I am from Wisconsin, and I really could give a rats azz if Favre is playing for the Vikes, or anyone else for that matter. I think he is a great quarter back, and will root for him no matter who he plays for. Yep, the Vikes whipped the Pack good, so what, it is a game, that I do not play, so no big deal to me.

Absolutely dominated by the Vikings TWICE?
Uhmmmmm,.....
Don't know what game you were watching the First time?

The first matchup had the Packers clumsily turning the ball over in Red Zone
3 times, and missing a "gimme" field goal. Final Score: Minnesota 30 -- Green Bay 23
EVEN with Rodgers on his back 5 times, if those red zone blunders were just "field goals",
Packers win Easily. Now, when they faced the Vikings at home, different story. Vikes
were In the Packers Heads, and really Kicked their arses.
So, for the record, They were only "dominated" ONCE.
Now, as far as match-ups against OTHER opponents. Packers looked clearly a better team.
No matter How you look at it. That is a fact.
As a documented 2009 season fact, The Packers, (win or lose) played more consistently than the Vikes. (or most other teams actually).
Wish a couple of those (if this or thats) would have worked in the Packers favor, THEY would be having the weekend Bye. Oh Well.
Inferiority complex to the State of Minnesota? Oh boy. Favre Complex,... maybe.
It is weird though, that out of ALL the Pro sports,..... It seems that Football does seem
to be the one that gets the Border Wars all fired up.
College Football, Baseball, Basketball,... Each State's fans give "ribbings" but all in all
Both States Party together and what ever the score is,... Oh well.
But Some How, The Vikes and the Packers story seems to be different.
Passion,...
Gotta Love it.
Good Take though Jroz.
Ribbing is great, Name Calling is kinda stupid I agree,....
I do like sheep however,... :o)
After Looking at the Facts,.. I believe the Packers made the right decision in the Favre
case,.... AND the Vikings made the right decision in picking him up. Win or Lose,... One thing us Wisconsin and Minnesota fans will ALWAYS have in common,.... We BOTH will have
had the chance to cheer the Same Guy on. And will BOTH have Great memories of him with our teams. Brett is a Superior Player and "one-of-a-kind",... and we should All be thankful we got to experience that.
Would a Vikings vs. Packers NFC Championship Game be great? You Betcha Der Eh! :o)
If Both teams played to their current potential, it would, and should be a fantastic matchup. Either way, I'd rather see an NFC NORTH team in the big game than anyone else in the Pool.
Now,..... I better sign off and feed the sheep. :o)
oh ya, and the Crows also. No matter who has to eat it,...
Might as well be a nice fattened bird to choke down.
Cheers to us all!

:o)

Well said Bigvin. Remember, Brett retired from the Packers, Management did not let him go. Yes he wanted to come back but the Packers already went in another direction and I think that is working out well for them. You can also argue that management forced Brett into retirement. You can also argue that Brett retired in hopes that the Packers would release him so he go to another team. The fact of the matter is no one really knows the whole truth. Like Skylar said, it is only a game and arguing back and forth does not change or accomplish anything. I will admit it is kind of entertaining listening to some of the comments. Lol.

Holy Crap!! Expected a good game, but nothing like that!! WOW! Good for the Vikes! That last TD was an explanation point for all the media who discounted their ability to get the job done this week!!

The old man can still sling it, he is still one of the best that ever played the game. As far as the last touchdown, I agree with Bradshaw on Fox, it was cheap and unprofessional, did not need to happen. Good luck against the Saints, they look pretty tough.

Switch - No one in the media gave MN a second thought against "America's team"! Why is that cheap? Dallas should have stopped it if they didn't want the emabarrasment. It was definately a statement they wanted to make!

Man did that pi-- off the Cowboys. But like the coach said, it's a football game and if you don't want the other team scoring on ya, then play harder. The last TD thrown by Brett will cost him plenty when they meet again. I love it when the old men kick butt on the youngsters! Kind of humbles you if you know what I mean!

I wish I was still in my 40s, lol. Doo, as far as I know MN was favored in the game.....my point is you just don't see a team trying to run it up at that point of a game. Sure, Dallas should have stopped it so they should be pissed at themselves for laying such an egg today, but play action passes and thowing in the endzone at that point in the game with the score and outcome decided is bush league and I still agree with Bradshaw.

Favre will never face Dallas again. It makes absolutely no difference to him if he is perceived as somebody that ran up the score on them. Plus they sucked and fully deserved to be kicked while they were down. Was the MN 'D' that good or did the Dallas O-line take the game off?

It's the playoffs, anything goes. The purpose is to win at all cost. Everyone has a story about an upset that has happened to their team at some point in their life. Look what Dallas did to the Eagles the last two weeks, no mercy. It's time for some payback!

This is a bunch of garbage. This is the NFL, this is the PLAYOFFS, you get a chance to STOMP on the throat of the team you are against, YOU DO IT.

You think the Giants felt any remorse when they kicked the Vikings 41-0 a few years back? NOT A CHANCE.

Personally, I think it was the BEST game I have seen in the playoffs by a Vikings team in I don't know how long.

THROTTLE YOUR OPPONENT UNTIL THE FINAL WHISTLE! MAKE A STATEMENT TO THE NEXT TEAM WHILE YOU CAN!! WE ARE TO BE RECONNED WITH!!!

Our Favre-ther who art in Mississippi, hallowed be thy name. Thy bowl will come, it will be won, in Miami as it is in the Dome. Give us this Sunday, our weekly win. Give us touchdown passes, but do not let others pass against us. Lead us not into frustration, but deliver us to the Super Bowl. For thine.....is the MVP, ......the best of the NFC, and the glory of the Purple People Eaters, now and forever. Amen!

GO VIKINGS, GO VIKINGS, GO VIKINGS, GO!

Well, off to see the Saints. A win is a win and we are still in.

I would like to give a "Shout out" to all the great Packer fans for
the years of hard work and training of the Farv man, so far it appears
to be a good investment. We have a strong, confident team!!

GO VIKES!!

Diehard Packer fan and I have to say good job Vikings! Brett has not had good luck with the Cowboys so I'm glad he threw the last T.D., I'm sure it felt pretty good to do it for him. The look on Jerry Jones face was PRICELESS!

I still hate the Vikings but I wish them luck!

Congratulations Vikings! No doubt you looked good. It was wierd to watch because I don't like either team. I love everything about MN except the Vikings but...... always will love Favre. I don't know what I will do with all my empty cigarette wrappers if they win it all! Even my wife liked the pants on the ground he did in the lockeroom. Hope he does not get nailed like Warner did. Good luck Viking fans but I will be cheering for the Saints.

PS: The last touchdown was awesome! Cowboys would have done the same.

That was after the bonehead pass in the giants game in overtime. The win could have sent the Pack to another super bowl. Is there a pattern here? Same bonehead play, different team...
