Can someone give me a little help on how to change the chain case oil in my 2000 Mach Z 800 Triple. Also how much oil is needed to refill it? Any help is appreciated...Thanks!

I have a 01 and 02 so I would think pretty much the same. First look under the belly pan and see if you have a little hole that exposes a set screw. If so put a pan under it and take it out. While that is draining take your muffler off and loosen the bolts on your cover. If you have electric start I would take the batterie off also. Once oil is drained take cover off, whipe and inspect your gears, check bolts on your gears and chain tightness. Should be a rubber gasket that is re-usable on the cover. Put it back together and add oil. Can't remember how much exactly but one bottle of it will do usually two sleds. As far as the chain goes about 1/4 inch play is what you are looking for. Hope this helps. (if you don't have or can't get the set screw out still can do all the above just oil will come out when you take the cover off that's all)

I change my oil every year when I do my sumerizing. That way I know if there is something that needs replaced and gives me time to do it. I will leave everyone's opion on oil to them selfs (look at the other board and see what I mean). I just use a snowmobile gearcase lube that I get from my local snowmobile shop. Between my dad and myself and over 40 years (more him then me) snowmobile riding have never had a case come apart or "seen" anymore damage using one type of oil over the other. And oh yea wicked profile pick!!

After reading my post I don't want to offend anyone, I did not imply that I don't want to hear other opions, or that my way is better. It is just ask 100 guys and get 100 answers you know what I mean...
