I am looking for a good centrally located place to visit this area. I saw the american inn in Silver City and sounded like what we were looking for but not sure how snowmobile friendly they are. Any advice or suggestions in this area would be appreciated.

Ok. Thanks I was looking for something similar to the Ramada in Hancock. We like the free continental breakfast and a nice hottub in the evenings to warm up and socialize. Anything like that in that area?

Konteka in White Pine has a bar, restaurant, and bowling alley onsite. They also have a hot tub. Americinn in Silver City has a pool and hot tub, and a lounge. Both places right off the trail.

Only bad thing about Silver City is you can only go south or west from their and it's usually thin in town. I vote for the Konteka.

No large Hotel/Motel in bergland, some of the resorts have a hot tub in the area.

Ironwood also has an Americinn. A little pricey, but nice place.

I have stayed on Lake Gogebic 3-4 times a year in Bergland since 1993. There are plenty of places to stay in that area. Check John's Northwoods Directory on the left or go to www.lakegogebic.com. You have lots of eating options and it's a great central location to trail ride out of.

The silver city americinn is snowmobile friendly. The restaurant attached is pretty decent and there is a bar there also. The jacuzzi rooms aren't badly priced if you have your significant other with you.

I still lock everything up at night but that is just by habit.

Konteka is your best bet. Has everything you need plus a gas station and convienience store. They also just installed a new high tech video survelence system which pans out to parking lot.

The Konteka is the place to stay, plus they have gas, as the one across the street has closed.

Go to the Konteka! They have everything you could ever want except for a pool. For a couple bucks per person you can take a 7 mile drive by car to the AmericInn and use their pool. We do this all the time. You know, another thought might be to just rent a house in White Pine. It's about the same price as AmericInn. Talk to Darrin or Lindy at the Konteka and they can line up a house for you. Don't forget Konteka has gas too!

If you are looking for snowmobile friendly Konteka is the place. Plenty of rig parking, secure, good restaurant, bar, large whirlpool, gas & plenty of snow. Everything you need right there. Silver City is dying slowly no gas & not much of anything else, Trails can be very rough or scabby too close to the big lake for early season snow.

cmharcouon't know why you want to stay in Ironwood or what the heck LG & Ironwood have in common for ya? Totally different areas. If you need high density of people by all means stay in Ironwood with massive number of skiers but will be crowded everywhere you go in mid Jan in Ironwood,Bessemer Hurley area. I like pristine trails & go where the crowd is not....but that is me.

Sounds like LG is something we would like a lot better. Never been to the area there or ironwood.

cmharcou, the Konteka in White Pine is only 9 miles north of Lake Gogebic and 7 miles south of Silver City. Way better than any place in Bergland IMHO. If you insist on having a pool in house and an AmericInn type feel, drive another 40 minutes to the Parkview in Twin Lakes (technically Toivola). http://www.parkviewtwinlakes.com/
The snow is way better there too. Check out the website. Good luck. By the way you can count on the people on this website to give you good info. I know it's hard to trust people you don't know but over the years I've learned that the people of JohnDee.comm are as trustworthy as they get! Good luck dude!

I'm partial to Lake Gogebic, but you can't go wrong with Konteka or Parkview either. Since this will be your first time up there, I would be happy to help you with some loops to take each day. Just let me know how many miles you like to put on each day. LG is a great central location to get to all of the trails.

Maple Ridge motel in Bergland, I have stayed there multiple times, great people. No hot tub and it is a community kitchen but very reasonable prices and a great stay right on the trails.

cm..You cant go wrong with any of these ideas. Konteka is a good place. Good food and very friendly. Bar scene can get interesting later in the evening...yikes. I would disagree with the comments on Ironwood though. I have a place in Manitowish Waters WI and spend a lot of time riding that area and also have been all over the UP many times. Ironwood is not a bad place to ride out of as long as you ride north and east from there. Some of my favorite trails are in that area. Hurley is a zoo so unless you are into strip clubs (thats ok too) I would keep clear. Parkview is one of my favorites but it is just because I love to ride that area. Im pretty sure that is the place right on the trail and was just built within the last 5 years or so. hot tub, pool, restaurant and bar with great trails right out the door. It is quite a drive to get there though. Like I said at the beginning you will enjoy wherever you go. Best of luck.
