Trailer Upgrade

Ok maybe I'm getting old. But I got tired of draging the ramp around to the front of the trailer. Also the opportunity to keep some slush off the sled and add front ramps, this seemed like the best option. Just finished installing the new Caliber salt shield ramps, seems like a really good set up, hopefully they work as good as they look.

They are on sale through Feb 28th for $399.95 then they go up to $499.95. I ordered mine through BK Boats and Sleds in Lakemoore great guys to deal with. Just to compare I checked the price to add FLOE ramps and they were around $800 so seems like a good buy.

3 brackets on each side. They are aluminium flat stock with a 90 degree bend and a hole punched through them. 2 bolts each. Hinge Pin runs through bracket and fingers on shield. So 3 hinge pins per side. I did have to buy different bolts to mount brackets to the trailer but this was mentioned as a possibility in the instructions. Bolts sent with it are designed for a trailer with the fron rail being tube my Floe is just flat stock. Full instructions are on Calibers web site just look at the botom for "Manuals" then click on "V front ramp shield" it is a full pdf file of the directions that come with it. Actually they are easier to read. If you have any more questions I will try and help.

Wife has reverse and my next sled will as well I'm sure, but no new sled this year (got the ramp for Xmas for some reason no one bought me the sled I asked for). This was alot cheaper than a new sled, and provides alot more protection from rocks and slush. Also should be really good on the resale value for when I upgrade to an enclosed.

The problem I always had with backing down was that the skis would catch on the ramps leading to something getting ripped off ( scratched skis scratched belly pan). Bought an enclosed trailer with doors in front and back. Hurray!
