    Default Starting from St.Germain

Everyone was wondering if the trip north tomorrow is a good idea. Would you drive 6hrs north to ride this weekend? We have a place in St.Germain for a start point, plan on going north for good snow?? What ideas for areas to ride would you suggest?

We made a pass through St. Germain last Friday. Some of the trails in the area were getting pretty thin (poor). Once you get outside of town, some of the trails were pretty good. I don't know how far you have to travel to get out of town, but there are some nice trails in the woods. I would stay away from Minocqua, and Eagle River and ride the off the beaten path as much as you can. Make your way over to the Willow Flowage or over to the Turdle Flambeau and stay off the railroad grade, and you should find some really nice trails.
Here are some pics from last weekend.
Pic one is Sugar camp area, 2 is near Turdle Flambeau, pic 3 is some of the poor trails you would ride to get to better trails, they may be worse, or they may be better, you decide if you can ride some poor to fair trails to get to the really nice ones....I would.

I rode the powerlines in St Ger. on Sunday and they were all dirt and water. Here is an update from today on the trails in St. Germain

"The sun has been beating up the trails pretty bad in the last 10 days. Woods trails have been fairly consistent and the groomers have been able to work some remaining snow, but it has been tough.
Ice has been gathering in corners, but not as bad as in past years.
The problem areas are close to town and the highline trail just south of St. Germain. Also seeing some problems in lake/shoreline access areas to lakes on the north shore. It is still worthwhile to come up, but we need some new snow to regenerate things. We had a couple of inches of new snow this week, but more is needed to rate the trails higher."
