Default Eagle River Friday Trail report

Start of another winter weekend in Eagle River! It's 10 degrees at 9am. Light snow in the forecast for the weekend. Some snow showers some Lake Effect snow off & on through the weekend. 2 maybe 3 inches for the weekend. Need more.

Not rating the trails because conditions are different all over. Read the rest of the report for riding ideas. Rule of thumb would be not good in town or wide open spaces. Woods riding & south side of a road trails OK to GOOD. Hard to do reports this time of year.

Trail Boss Tom sent out the grooming equipment last night to cut the rough areas & pan the rest. I can only speak to Trail 10E along Hwy 70E of Eagle River. It is smooth & loose snow covered this AM on the south side, that's the 1 way going east. There are "burn throughs" on the north side because someone out there turned the outside light again! I have not been able to ride this mid-week. Riders tell me that going east, northeast & south are best bets. Have riders from Middleton, WI & Cascade, IA riding from the motel & will get you a report on what they found on Saturday. I will get out on Saturday to see for myself.

Trails 10E to Trail 11 to Three Lakes or Trail 10E to Alvin/Nelma & Phelps. Trail 6, 8 west to Land 0' Lakes. Also 2 in the Boudler Jct area. Are what riders at the motel have ridden.

Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trail are smooth & covered with lots of SNOW. No need to talk about surface slush as it is way too cold for that. Stay by the orange reflective marker barrels. There are ice fisherman out on both lakes so give them a wide berth. 100 feet is good.

TRAILS IN VILAS COUNTY, CONDITIONS PERMITTING STAY OPEN UNTIL 12 MIDNIGHT ON MARCH 31ST. This is the gospel. Not February 28 or March 15.

    THINK MORE SNOW & COLD!

    See ya on the trails!

Is there a web page that lists all the trails/maps and trail reports for Wisconsin? Something similar to www.Fishweb.com for Michigan? I have not been able to find much for Wisconsin, wondering whats the best overall site to use.
    thanks

www.snowtracks.com but come back to JD for a reality check. Most snowtracks reports are entered by area biz so can be a bit over the top. Trail conditions change by the hour so often JD has a rider that just rode the trails you you want info about. Just ask.

Rode from hillers in st germain today lakes are great for speed runs if you care to. if you gauge things from the road not good but if you get out and ride i would say 70% good mix on the rest, trail 70 that runs behind rustic manor/spangs restaurant mostly ice dirt but if you head off on the loop trails pretty good, son & nephew went to eagle river said it was ok till got to eagle river then bare all the way to mcdonalds. wife daughter & i went off towards sayner ran in to some dirt but just short stretches overall ridable, enough on trail for lube & carbides to grip not ideal but saw quite a few other sledders out so i guess everyone is out taking advantage of what we have & enjoying the last of winter.
