2011 Crossfire 8 or Renegade Backcounty 8etec

I cant seem to make up my mind on which sled to purchase. I currently have a Crossfire 7 which I love. That sled will do what you want it to do and go where you want it to go. I have also spent a lot of time on a 2010 Renegade 600 etec. My main complaint is the sled does not carve well at all. It constantly fights you when carving and always wants 2 skis flat. I have read a lot about taking the swaybar out to help with this. The backcountry also has an adjustable ski stance which should help this problem also. I would like to go with the more efficient 800 etec but handling is #1 in my book. If I cant get the renegade to do what the crossfire will do, I dont think it will be worth it.

Does anyone have experience setting up their Renegades to carve better? Thanks!

I also ride a xfire I love the way it handles.I have also spent time on a xp with a sway bar and was not impressed but have ridden the same sled with out the sway bar allllot better.but that dose not mean I like it better than my xfire with no sway bar I just think the M sleds have a huge sweet spot thay like to lay over on.but poss after riding a xp for a few 100mi I would like it better.buy the cat800ho xfire sp is a sweet sled

Regarding which sled, I agree the the Cross Fire is a great handling sled. My friend has a cross fire 700 and it rides and handles great even in the mountains. I've ridden it a few times and it is nice. The Backcountry with the adjustable stance of 38"-40" should help the side hilling and carving ability of the Renegade a lot. That is what I am going with for next year.

Ski-Doo was going to release it last year but made a few adjustments so that it was completely ready to go for the Jan 2010 release. So far, so good.

As for picking a sled/motor/style I say "It's all in your style" I drove a monster Nytro MTX162" this year (260 hp supercharged). The sled kicked my A$$. Not because of the HP, rather the Yamaha platform. It was more similar to the Ski Doo platform than the other manfctr's but it still took a very long time to get comfortable with it. To be perfectly honest I was not comfortable doing extreme hill climbs because I did not feel good turning it fast and pointing it down a rutted, steep, hill. After some time in the cockpit, I was able to get a good feeling on the sled and became more impressed with Yamaha. Maybe I'll get Comfy on it in April (one more trip to the Snowies).

Buy the Renegade BC. Ski Doo has been building 800's for years and finally added the etec fuel delivery technology to it that has already been proven with amazing results in the 600 motors. This is Ski Doo were talkin about not cat or polaris. I owned way too many polaris' before I came to my senses on who builds the best mills.

Read your original post and you will know what to buy, I own a crossfire 6 and love it, but drove my buddies 8 for the day, damn dude that is where its at. The 8 is incredible and so is the way the crossfire rides.
