Newberry to Paradise Trail 45 Detour Needed

According to the trail reports and the DNRE, trail 45 is closed from county road 500 to the falls until December 24th. Anybody been there yet. If so, is there anyway around that section using two tracks or back roads?

You can pickup CR500 and go north, then Tower Road east and go east to trail 8. The trail map shown on fishweb dot com shows this. We used this route several years ago. As I recall GR500 was plowed so you need a little lake effect coming down to make it a good ride. Might be good to check with TASA before you go too.

That section of trail has a lot of swamps so it would be impassable even if it were open....takes a lot of cold to freeze that part up -

Call rainbow lodge up to check the condition of CO 500 if its plowed down to sand or not. Sometimes Tower is plowed to Betsey River bridge

The picture was taken within 5 miles of that trail. As you can tell the swamps are far from being frozen! CR500 was plowed pretty good this weekend. Last year it wasn't plowed too often during the weekends.
