wondering?
just wondering why I put so much time and money in a sport that is so weather dependent sorry had to vent
-
I too am pondering the same question. Lots of money in truck, trailer, gear, and sleds to just be a driveway ornament. My son wanted me to sell the sleds after last year and by quads..........hmmmmm. I'm thinking of going back to renting sleds when I want to ride.
I called my therapist today to get an appiontment for 1st thing monday, no snow is driving me nutz.

It sure can be frustrating, and have to admit I've thought of doing like Hotwire and have considered renting rather than owning the equipment.

I feel your pain. But it's still early in the season.........we really dont plan much,or even consider riding till Feb. We like to wait for the crazy's to burn up and ball up the toys before we start planning much. though last year we got burned on our March trip......not much snow left. but that is a rare thing. usually plenty of snow left well into April.......

Cause its an awsome sport!

We did go to four wheelers back in 2001 - 2003. Did not have sleds again until winter of 2003. Once we got back on snowmobiles we realized why we liked it so much. The smooth ride, the power, the speed. We found that we did not ride the four wheelers in the winter that much. They were cold to ride, and just not fun for us. In the summer we really enjoyed the four wheelers but had to many things to do in the summer, fishing, boating, water Skiing, ext. So we sold the 4 wheelers and never looked back. The short amount of time we get to ride snowmobile makes it even more enjoyable every time we get out. I say every spring I have had enough riding. But within a month I wished I had gone out more. Then start counting down for the next year. Oh such the pains we go through

Because there is nothing better than cranking her up on a nice fresh trail.

living down here near the big city, we had the oppertunity to go north sledding about 3 times a season, one of them being the week between christmas and new years, i can tell you that more times the sleds never got out of the trailer than they did during that week or the trails were so beat up that they were nearly un -rideable...i am speaking of the northern lower pennisula. sold all my stuff a few years back and i really miss the sport but to use them only a couple times a year got too expensive, i hope some day to move up there and be able to sled again, only this time from my door!!
-
Thought about sell'n it all too, but I still get such a rush when it snows hard, and I get the sled out for the first time. My wife just can't understand why I get so worked up about it snowing, or why I get po'd when it all melts, like it did this week. It is hard to tell people that you spend 1000 or more a year, just to ride up north for a few day's. Guys at work even laugh, when all the snow melts, and I'm bumm'n.
They just don't know!

Um, re-read indy's post, he's not complaining.

Mezz - I have been feeling your pain for the last 10 years. Southern MN had no ridable snow for that long. Last year was finally good and we are off to a great start this year.... I finally cant complain.......

Too much.....
Too much money for Insurance for two sleds. Too much money for two sleds. Too much money for trucks and trailers to haul the sleds. Too much work getting the sleds ready for a northern trip. And a lot of money for cabin and eats, sno-gas.
BUT I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING!
Snomobiling is a passion! Period. I'm glad to experience a few hours of it while living on this Earth!!!

We all do it for the same reasons, theres nothing else like it. Besides might as well do what makes us happy while we are still able, at least thats what my 85 year old neighbor keeps telling me.

I ask my self that all the time.eaven when riding trails around the house and up north.but then I go west or the up an a good week and the first carve when the sled is sidways snow coming over the wind shild filling the running boards toss it back and launch over a big pile of whateaver is inder the snow the sled flyes and lands in a soft cloud then I remember why I spent the money and time.it is like crack but more expensive
