Lake Superior South shore smelting thread

I know usually we aren't dipping until middle/late part of next month sometimes later but maybe with the early, strange spring it could start earlier? Interested in any positive smelting happening from Ashland WI to Ontonagon to Keweenaw.

Few weeks ago I went o Harvard, IL for the smelt fry. All you can eat and drink beer. (PBR) Talk about head pounding the day after. I have never dipped for smelt but I sure would like to try. I know I love eating them!

We're going to have to try that sometime on the Superior shoreline. Although it's hard to beat paying $1.25 per pound at the fish market! You just have to clean them. I bought 5 pounds last time we were up.

It looks pretty easy to do. You just have to know where they run.
