Attn: Motel/Resort Owners with hot tubs/pool
Due to the remarkable insight of our Congressional leaders I have decided not to participate in the new regulations and have closed my hot tub. Therefore, I have all the pumps, brominator, piping, sand filter and heater for sale. The aerator pump is about 2 years old, the heater has a brand new (used 1 month) $600 heat exchanger in it. You would also get all the associated parts and stuff to go with it.
Looking for an offer on the whole mess, not gonna piece it out.
The stuff is located in Door County.
Thanks!

What new reg's????
Without having to google it or search it on the interweb, maybe you could give us some "insight" as to the new legislation you are talking about?????? Although it's usually disgusting, it's also always entertaining to hear how Big Brother is spending and using our own money and the constituents elected officials against us. Historic stories of $25,000 hammers and $50,000 golden toilet seats not too mention the debacle going on currently with the DOJ, The Attorney General, The Secret Service and the Fast & Furious SCAM are just a few but now a "lawful" stand of some sort against Mom and Pop motel owners and their hot tubs? Do tell.

Any wonder why it's getting harder and harder to find accommodations with a pool/hot tub, especially the small "mom & pop" places in da UP, and the like?

There were two things that changed. First was the Virginia Graem Baker Act. Former Sec'y of State Jim Baker's granddaughter drowned in a private (non commercial) hot tub due to her hair getting caught in the suction drain. Did I mention this was a PRIVATE NON COMMERCIAL hot tub? Oh yeah, I did. Anyway, to address this situation, all public pools and hot tubs have to meet certain requirements. That would have cost me $5000 for my 8 person hot tub. Since I had to spend that money, might as well resurface the hot tub, some extra stuff, another $4000. Then, The Justice Department decided that to accommodate the ADA requirements ALL pools and hot tubs had to install a PERMANENT handicapped lift. No, not a portable one, a permanent one, no grandfathering. Poof! There goes another $10 grand. Pffft! It's a nice room in back, I'm gonna fill it in and start serving continental breakfast, which is a much better amenity.

Thank you for the clarifying update. It sounds all too bad for the small business, mom and pop motel and small resort owners. I wonder if Parkview in Twin Lakes plans to comply?

we closed our tub a couple years back. it took much time and expense to keep it going. we found that while those that came did enjoy it but the return for those expenses was not there. just not popular enough to make it profitable.
