    Default Gas prices

Now that crude oil is well below 100.00, why isn't gasoline at 2.50? Pees me off.

hey, stop pickin on the poor oil companies! Accord'n to the ads, they provide a bunch of jobs, and are in everyone's retirement portfolio....and well, they can't hep makin all dat money....dah devil made dem do it!

Just for fun, I drove a Nissan Leaf today....my sort of own protest of the juicing we have been taking all spring and for the last 4 years or so. Nice little car, certainly drove well, a bit wierd to not have a motor running but I got used to it, and it didn't burn a drop of oil. Gage says 5 hrs to charge it back up to full.... using 110....

Now if I could only get one in a snowmobile....I already own a very long heavy extension cord. I can see it now....."park here if you want to charge your sled....go way over there if you have a two smoker! down wind please :0

    Exactly!
Pretty comical, all the Lemmings that choose to believe electricity is any kind of answer to our "carbon footprint".

Although I don't think the oil companies are saints, there is a lot of truth to the ad that you refer to. West of me jobs are plentiful and the pay is great. With the help of oil companies ND's average income went from 38th to 9th in 10 years. It is not just because of oil but that is a big part of it. I know my IRA has some oil stocks in it and I believe many other peoples retirement plans have oil stocks in them also. Every spring the media says gas prices are going to record highs and they climb fast only to stabilize and then drop around this time of year.

Just heard today North Dakota is #2 behind Texas in oil production, passing Alaska at #3 now!

Two days ago I drove through ND from west end to east end completely and it shows that they are producing oil. And it is true what they say about petrol being cheaper where it comes from. I saw regular for as low as $3.31 and not much higher than $3.50 acrossed the whole state. Thats a good 50¢ lower than it is where I hang my hat.

Because for gas to be at $2.50 a gallon, crude would have to be in the $50-$60 a barrel price. Plus, crude inventory is growing and is currently at it's highest level in nearly 20 years. Gas inventory is seeing it's seasonal draw down and is below 5 year AVERAGES.

The formula for cheap gas is not as simple as lower crude prices. Especially in the big usage (big driving) season.

If I am a producer why do I want to drive my retail price down to $2.50 when you are already desensitized to $3.85?

    Margin, baby, margin!

Run some two stroke in that baby. You'll pick up another mile or two per gallon and your injectors will last longer and run quiet!
Now, just imagine the mileage you could have if the oil companies weren't stripping energy out of the fuel, and replacing it with bio-mass fillers that don't burn worth a crap!

Because if every car in America had to plug in to operate, how much extra electricity do you suppose we would have to produce? Electricity is as far away from "clean" as you can get!! This not to mention the up front extra cost and the added toxic waste that would be produced by millions of batteries!

Hybrid technology does make a bit more sense than full on electric, however. As long as you do most of your charging with the vehicle itself anyway!

No it doesn't. They just make slightly more sense because they can also charge their own batteries to a point.

    well lets count the ways
for one back in the 80s I had a Plymouth champ twin stick I got 40mpg average if road tripping could get 48 all day.
ever pick up a car battery? yeah real light what 70lbs? OK lets say you have just 8 of them 480lbs then add a drive system what minn 200lbs.
so what kind of mileage do you think that prius would get if it was not haling around a Yamaha nytro every day?
prob close to 45 I would say.
they are built and marketed to the lemming fools who want to show the world how green they are.then they drive there overpriced image to there 4000 sf house with the heated garage the house running 2 central A/C units 2 furnaces the Minni fridge in the rec room the deep freze in the basement the 36 in fridge in the kitchen and the garage fridge.don't forget how the "GREEN folks like there wine so don't forget the wine celler.
it is a douche-bag car for douche-bag people.
the better ? why are nattral gas autos only marketed and sold in 2 states in this country.toyota nissan and honda all sel a NG car with home fueling stations and can switch to unleded with a flick of the switch.
next ? why is the EPA charging 800 grand for licences per auto model you work on to do natral gas conversions ?

Actually Ezra, you forgot about their 2nd and 3rd homes all of equal size running equal utilities and only occupied 3 percent of the time! And just to clarify, I am not against a 2nd or a 3rd home (wish I had a few of my own!), just don't like folks that do preaching to the rest of us about carbon footprints.
