ever pick up a car battery? yeah real light what 70lbs? OK lets say you have just 8 of them 480lbs then add a drive system what minn 200lbs.
so what kind of mileage do you think that prius would get if it was not haling around a Yamaha nytro every day?
prob close to 45 I would say.
they are built and marketed to the lemming fools who want to show the world how green they are.then they drive there overpriced image to there 4000 sf house with the heated garage the house running 2 central A/C units 2 furnaces the Minni fridge in the rec room the deep freze in the basement the 36 in fridge in the kitchen and the garage fridge.don't forget hot the "GREEN folks like there wine so don't forget the wine celler.
it is a douche-bag car for douche-bag people.
the better ? why are nattral gas autos only marketed and sold in 2 states in this country.toyota nissan and honda all sel a NG car with home fueling stations and can switch to unleded with a flick of the switch.
next ? why is the EPA charging 800 grand for licences per auto model you work on to do natral gas conversions ?
Love it! Those are also my customers and I laugh when they ask if their tile is "green".

If the Hybrib even matches your mileage your behind the game with diesel being more exspensive than gas for at least the last 5 years.

Why are we picking on us " guy's " with heated garages ??? I need that to melt the snow on my sleds, keep warm & toasty in the Man Kave, and keep my Cat warm...... LOL

Why doesn't someone bring up the constant price fluxuation ( up on the weekends , down on Monday ) That really smokes me.
I thought that was illegal ? It's been going on for 12 years at least here in SWMI. In fact it is one of the 1st things I remember after moving here 12 years ago.

TDI VWs hold their value better than hybrids and also get better gas mileage at higher speeds. I don't think a Prius is designed to go 70-75mph down the interstate and it defeats the purpose. The run on the battery at lower speeds with no load on the engine and are most comfortable at 55mph.

I would disagree with most of that, and there are other hybrids out there than the prius. A 2012 honda civic hybrid is rated for 44 mpg while the TDI is rated for 42 mpg the projected resall on the civic after 5 years is 9,496 while the 5 year projected resale on the TDI is 8,619. 5 year operateing cost on a civic is 33,017 and 44 cents per mile 5 year cost on a TDI is 34,932 and 47 cents per mile. Those are for 2012 bottom of the line cars based of KBB numbers. over 100k that would be 44k civic and 47k for tdi operating cost. With the TDI rated at 170 hp and the civic rated at 201 hp i have to assume the civic as all other hybrids travel down the interstate at 70-75 mph just fine

I can remebr back in the day when diesel was allways cheaper than gas but those days have been long gone. Hence why i say behind the game with compareable mpg's.

Who cares if the civic is rated for 2 mpg more than the TDI, the Jetta TDI is a well built car with a good motor that's made to last. What is this world coming to?

I for one love the heated garage so much that My heater is on a programable t state so it goes from 45 to 65 in the morning so when I head out to load the truck it is nice and tosty.
the diff in the TDI and the honda is not in 100k mi but what about 150k 200k 250k witch one do you think your kids or budys kid will be driving with 200k on it well if you picked the honda better add 10k to tear the car appart and replace the batterys at about 135k. the tdi will just be getting broke in and starting to get better MPG.
I have a bud who still has a 1984 Vw rabbit sport truck disel with over 300k on it he got that thing when we were in high school and his kid still drives it back and forth to Maddison for school.

Although I don't think the oil companies are saints, there is a lot of truth to the ad that you refer to. West of me jobs are plentiful and the pay is great. With the help of oil companies ND's average income went from 38th to 9th in 10 years. It is not just because of oil but that is a big part of it. I know my IRA has some oil stocks in it and I believe many other peoples retirement plans have oil stocks in them also. Every spring the media says gas prices are going to record highs and they climb fast only to stabilize and then drop around this time of year.

Gas is putting a huge hole in my wallet. My truck gets 12 miles to the gallon. I love the truck and will never get any of those hybrid things but with gas being 3.60 or higher it's costing me almost 100 bucks to fill it every time I stop at the pump. Something needs to change cause this is a problem. The U.S. has enough oil in Alaska why aren't we using that to help out the problem here? It just doesn't make any sense!

Just heard today North Dakota is #2 behind Texas in oil production, passing Alaska at #3 now!

well Obama said during his campaign in a 2008 interview with CNBC,about $4a gal gas Barack Obama said he would have preferred a “gradual” increase in gasoline prices.this guy wants your gas high wants to cut all tax breaks to all non green energy wants to bankrupt the coal industry.Change you can beleve in!ask some of the ND what the Fed Gov is doing with minneral rights in ND to try to slow the private drilling thrugh the back door.
most of the left want high energy prices to force you in to mass transit and dense urban development.
in a senate hearing 2/28/12 Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA): “I want to say that, despite the Administration’s arguments that are laid out, that you all are all guns blaring and green lights for drilling, the facts that I checked, and if you disagree tell me, only 21 permits for offshore drilling have been issued by this date. In 2010 there were 32 permits. I just left the annual conference of LOGA, which is Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, Mr. Secretary, yesterday. They are beside themselves with not being able to get their permits processed and to answer you, Mr. Franken, let me just say Exxon and Shell may be making record profits but according to a study recently done by the Greater New Orleans, Inc., 41% of our oil and gas independent operators and service companies, I’m not talking about Exxon and Shell that have operations all over the world, I’m talking about companies in the Gulf Coast, in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama. Let me tell you what the studies show about their profits: 41% of them are not making a profit at all, 70% have lost significant cash reserves, 46 have moved operations away from the Gulf, and 82% of business owners have lost personal savings as a result of this slow down. Now part of it is the accident.” (Committee On Energy And Natural Resources, U.S. Senate, Hearing, 2/28/12)

You know .... i feel taxed to death, unrepresented by either party and just keep plugging along. I have to fuel up 5 cars, work 7 day's a week, 60-70 or more hrs a week and ..... I'm near total exhaustion. I really don't need all the income ( not to mention tax burden ) that those kind of hours provide me BUT >>>>> I have to work them to keep my job. My last company moved to Mexico. After being jobless for 4 months and being on the outside looking in .... So Be It.

Does anyone else get the feeling we have too much government ? There is NOT 1 single thing in my life that the government doesn't have their paws on. They either tax it or regulate it... I think I should move to TEXAS, and get involved with the " sucession " movement. Only problem.... there is no snow.

OK, I don't wanna go all Nash on you (ok, maybe just a little) but I think you were looking for secession. Sucession would be like a personnel plan "what is your sucession plan for the marketing department?"

Back to your comment though, I agree, there is way too much government, in too many layers with too much expense. But no one wants to give up the program that lines their pocket. Additionally, government employs a lot of people, buys a lot of stuff and accounts for, I think, 18% of GDP. It will be a painful recession to undo it.

Two days ago I drove through ND from west end to east end completely and it shows that they are producing oil. And it is true what they say about petrol being cheaper where it comes from. I saw regular for as low as $3.31 and not much higher than $3.50 acrossed the whole state. Thats a good 50¢ lower than it is where I hang my hat.

Probably more due to taxes. The oil comes from the wells but it has to go to a refinery to become gas. There is only one small refinery in ND, in Mandan.
Here's a look at gas tax- MI is $.20 per gal higher than ND

I agree whole heartedly but there is the small percentage that really do care and actually do drive that Hybrid and don't run three fridges and two freezers and three a/c units and just do give a rip about their "carbon footprint." And don't drive a Hummer as their primary vehicle and the Prius or Volt are just fine. (Not just a status symbol.) The secondary vehicle is a Ranger to haul feed and hay in from town once a week, and they own a carriage and horses and are just fine using that too. If you feel I am full of smoke I'll pick you up and drive you to Calumet and introduce you. Not arguing just saying. Those folks are anything BUT "douche bags." :-) There is that 1% ( stupidly small percentage I know) that do care is all I am saying.

1%???? why bother bringing that up. Ezra is 99% correct. These posers are also my customers. They heat there pools with gas, not solar, fireplaces outdoors, what the heck is that all about, and a electric heated hot tub that they all have is nothing more than a 280 to 350 gallon open top hot water heater when in use. the 3" of water saturated foam does very little to save anything for energy yet the want "green tile" ya right. Mining, trucking, firing, trucking some more, all takes energy. But as long as there checks clear we will smile and tell them whatever the posers want to here. Ezra was being moderate at 4000 sq.ft. houses, most around here are 6000 to 12,000 sq. ft and for 2 people. Hybrid in your garage lol.

Far from it. lol Again just stating that the number of douche bags are a little lower than that perceived. :-)
