Being that it was a beautiful day out, my buddy Joe and I decided it would be a good day to do a little waterskipping. So we headed over to Ramsey's pond, private pond by the way, and let er buck. It was a great day I have a few vids to share along with some pictures.

On my last run I sunk mine, I have to start the tear down tomorrow to put the new tunnel/bulkhead on, so it wasn't that big of a deal. Not sure what happened, but it ended up in about 8' of water. LOL.

Joe tried to run his 98 xc700 across, that didn't work. LOL. That was the first one to sink, mine was second.

Lance then tried to run his Switcher across, I don't think he made it as far as the 98 did! We got them all dried out and started up and running.

So here are some pics and then links to the vids.

    On my way across

    On my way back

Rusty, no, the tunnel/bulkhead from Polaris comes as one unit. Can't just buy the bulkhead. I did think about buying the Van Amburg one though.

I figured if I planned for a possible sinkage, then it would happen for sure. So I was using reverse physocology? Didn't work. LOL The 98 hasn't been run since last December, he had just gotten it running that morning, I told him to leave it on the trailer, I think the Bud Light had an effect on his decision making process though.

By the way, my 01 SX700R was a great skipper!

    Ha ha. Too funny.

BTW - Why is Lance holding the end of the rope on the shore line, with Joe and Manuel doing the dirty work to hook up his sled? haha.

Actually it didn't stink very much at all, just very weedy. Man I hate weeds.

You might find some bluegills or crappie in this pond, not so sure about any northern pikes though. LOL. I was more worried about a snapping turtle thinking my toe was lunch.

i used to fish there as a kid. used to ride moto x down the road also. have quite a few friends in that area. you used to be able to dangle a worm about 6 inches off the top of the water and you would catch a bluegill every time.

Skylar - looks like a blast. Your 01 definitely looks like it handles the water better then your Polaris

Redrev, yep, I busted my ankle on my KX125 on "Schliecher's" track. LOL.

Samc, the weird thing about my Poo going down is I had already put 2 miles on it skipping before it went down. No issues whatsoever, I am still not sure what happened. Right before I went to do the last run, I tightened up the track some, it was ratcheting pretty hard when I would hit the water, other than that, I did nothing different than any other run. Maybe the belt got wet, not sure.

Here is the not so cool thing, my buddy Joe was in the rowboat, and I was in the water, I had tied the rope to the front bumper, and Joe was pulling on the rope in the back of the boat. I was holding onto the boat with my left hand, and pulling up as hard as I could with my right hand, when I heard, and felt, a nice POP, on my left side, where the rib ties into the back. I don't know for sure, but I think I broke a rib. Or pulled a muscle, not sure, but holy crap does it hurt when I sneeze! Good thing I am laid off this week.

Am I the only one here wondering WHY anyone would do this to a machine they want to keep?

Seriously, I'm having a hard time wondering what is the rational for driving across open water with a machine designed for snow, ingesting water into the engine, and potentially ruining it??

I won't even mention the really bad stuff you can contract from a pond that looks like that either!

Seems a bit like demolition derby.

I get grass drags, and asphalt drags, but water skipping...huh???

Anonomoose, dude, you need to lighten up, I might catch something from the water?, for pete's sake it is a fricken pond, local people catch fish, and eat them, all the time out of there. As far as the sled, yep, plan on keeping it a few more years. Why do it? Why do people jump out of a perfectly good airplane? Adrenaline rush I guess. Different strokes for different folks.

maddogg, as long as you shut the sled off before it goes under, no problems.

All 3 sleds that went under, were started and running fine before we DROVE them up on the trailers.

skylar, I did that 11yrs ago, the only problem I had after that was the choke cable freezing in very cold weather. Good luck. I'm sure it was a blast.
